:sigh: thats so not fair... my camera isnt good enough for photos to turn out when i have tried to take a photo of the sky.

Actually Lozzie you might be surprised. Even fairly basic cameras can take a reasonable night sky shot like that.

A few things to try :-
Turn the flash off - most cameras have a setting where you can disable the flash.

Mount it on a tripod, or if you don't have a tripod place it either on a flat surface or a cushion of some sort if you want it to face up at an angle. Bean bags are great for this stuff.

When you want to take the photo, use the self-timer setting if it has one. That way you don't shake the camera when it takes the photo.

Use higher speed ( ASA 400 ) film.

There - Camera class over - LOL

Good tips ZR

Except that that moon shot was taken
a) with the flash on
b) no tripod, no other form of stedying bar my own hand
c) again, hand held
d) digital is great, I get so many shots with digital that I couldnt afford with film. The moon and rabbit shots are the best 2 out of about 40 or 50

I'm impressed that you managed to hand-hold it. Steady hands eh ?
The 'flash off" tip is because some cameras default to a faster exposure when the flash is on, and you want at couple of seconds to get a really good night sky shot. Digital makes it easier as the CCDs are better at handling low light than film and you can adjust the ASA to whatever you need. I've got similar shots from my IXUS.

But again - nice shot
:D

Very nice White! No...we don't know what caused the rings. No animals will go near them. This is a nice one of some coolibah's...but I didn't take it.

Wow White! That is just so beautiful! You can almost touch the tranquility.

This is one of my grandchildren yabbying. I took the photo so it's not really good. But, just after I took it my grandson caught a yabby and started yelling "It's mine! Can I have it Nandy?" so, I picked it up by the back and handed it to him with it's nippers snapping away and he shot up that tree like a possum.

This is a mirror they put up on the country in Australia (in the mallee of Victoria where I live) None of us know what they put it there for so we all take a photo of ourselves taking a photo of the mirror.
Yep! That's me in the mirror taking that photo!! Put it in my journal too!

The other is of a billabong where the kids used to swim - beauty isn't it!
Throw a few tractor inner tubes in and the snakes go for miles!

Database was down White. Yep! Lost 24 hours of posts, that's all. No big deal.
Actually, my grandson never got to touch that yabby...he went so fast when he saw the nippers going he hit the tree like a racehorse goanna. But, struth! Did he carry on to have it in the first place! ^_^ ^_^

Here's a photo I took while driving home. Canola on the right - wheat on the left I think
