No, a thread is closed for a variety of reasons. If it is closed because there are multiple reports on the thread, if the problem is can be contained by removing a few posts, the thread will be cleaned and re-opened. If it is a more wide-spread problem, like the thread was iffy to begin with, it will remain closed.

"On Second Thought" was kind of iffy, and because of that, that thread degenerated fairly quickly. Any thread whose topic is based on the actions of others, rather than an accepted forum topic is going to degenerate because the OP is already pointing fingers. Sometimes they redeem themselves in the end, but while that thread had a few redeeming posts, the majority were not on the positive end of the spectrum.

There are allowed to be fellowship threads here, so instead of something that will surely divide the group that posts here, post a thread that is intended to draw people together.

As far as closing a thread and how many reports it takes to do so, it varies. Sometimes the same post is reported more than once, other times several posts are reported. And whether the thread is cleaned or closed permanently is decided by whether we have the staff to do a massive review, or how quickly the topic degenerates. If it is closed and cleaned multiple times, then at some point it becomes obvious that people are having trouble discussing that topic in a rational manner.
