I encourage you to find a Messianic Jewish church and attend one service. See what you think! Many Christians are discovering their Jewish spiritual roots, and many Jewish people are claiming Jesus Christ as Meshuah, their Savior.

May your peace extend to all eternity.

Hi,
My name is Katie, and I been thinking a lot, and most of my thinking has not finally made clear until tonight (Jan 29, 2005). I had a talk with a guy name sammy that I still love, he is my ex i will say. He turned Christain and whe I was talking with him, and he was telling me some stuff, I realized I had no way to counter his sayings, when I dont believe in God, but I believe that there is a life after this but not heaven or hell. Well anyways, after talking to him I told him something finally struck in my head. When I started College this year I got a roomate named Melody, whoms faller is a Minister at her local church, and her family is VERY! religous. Every nigh she prays to god to a girl named Angel, and goes to church every sunday (at the time I hated this thought it was nothing, and stupied to do.. but i am slightly slowly changing my mind on this)... Then I found a guy named Chris, or Christopher, and he was born on Nov. 1, all Saints day. I don tknow why, but I am wondering if this is a calling from God. I dont know what it is, but I am hoping somebody could help me here. I been in a lot of stress and I been asking god from time to time, to give me an answer, since highschool and I think this is the biggest thing I have seen. If sombody could help me I would appriate it... God Bless you all, and I hope you guys can help me see the truth and the light that I know I been waiting to see........ I think this is my calling.

We actually have quite a mountain of evidence that the Bible actually is the word of God. For instance, did you know that quite a few people have found human skeletons... 8 feet tall? God says there were giants in the Earth. Could that mean there were giants in the Earth? Some skeletons were 12 feet tall.

Yes, I believe God was talking to you.

Hey Angel-Rain,
Reading that you now have been praying to Jesus, great!

I honestly think that you would benefit and enjoy hanging around other Christians.
Is there any Christian group at your College?
You know, becoming a Christian means that you have given Jesus full reign over your life.
That no longer do you decide on your own what you feel like doing or say, you want to check with Him first if it's okey. Not because He is mean but because you know that He knows what is best for you. This will ALSO mean that amazing things can start happen in your life that you never had experienced before since you were the one in charge. Now you've got awesome amazing God the Creator of the entire Universe on your side and He can do some stuff!!!
So the more you get familiar with who this awesome Jesus is, the more interesting life you'll experience. Check out the first 4 books in the New Testament in the Bible (Mark, Matthew, Luke and John)This will give you a good understanding of who Jesus really is and what He is like since those books tells the facts of what He was upto when He was down here with us. Jesus also told us to hang out with other Christians so that we won't get our own little 'ideas' happening and to learn and have fun together. So I would pray if I was you to ask Him for some great friends that you can hang out with.
If you are getting a Bible, try to get one that is written in plain English, like:Contemporary English Version (CEV) or New International Version NIV)
Some Bibles also have explanations and some teachings in the margins. They can be helpful to you as well.
Hope everything will go fine.

I am also taking an online Christology course. The study is awesome and it's totally free. I can't say enough good things about it. I am so amazed as to the pre-existence of Jesus Christ in the Old Testament. I never thought about those things before. The web site is http://www.blbi.org/course/catalog.cfm if any are interested. :)

Nova,

I do not want to mess with this thread too much, but the Bible and everything else set aside, what you are saying about twelve foot tall men is pretty much verifiably false. http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/ce/3/part2.html

I would still say this is possible, but we have no credible evidence that it happened, and it's a medical fact that someone twelve feet tall would experience a collapse of their bone structure. This said, I do agree about the people that are 8 feet tall. Some people near this height exist, and it is not medically impossible. Gigantism occurs when the growth hormone is secreted too heavily in childhood and / or does not stop being secreted.

You are speaking about men today. Men were on a different scale of build before the flood. Look into it.

Katie,

You are on the right path. It's wonderful that you are asking these questions and praying to God everyday. And it's also wonderful that you are praying for your loved ones, but please don't feel that you are being greedy if you pray for yourself. It's ok to ask God to help guide you and for you to pray for yourself. You're already doing that in a way by typing to this forum.

It's true that you don't have to go to church in order to pray to God and believe in Christ as the messiah. But I encourage to you to "shop around" for a church where you feel comfortable, accepted and most important where you will be included with other Christians. I recently became born again and I've found a church after many, many churches where I now have a whole new family to go to. My brothers and sisters in Christ are my stepping stones. They are the ones I most want to be with and whom I can talk to. But I also now have a new perspective on life itself. I don't judge people as quickly as I used to. I don't turn my nose up at others and also, as a Christian and follower of Christ's ways, I never turn anyone away from Christ or the church.

God Bless You! I will pray for you because you are not praying for yourself.

I am trying hard to be who I know God wants me to be. I been doing good, a lot better then most days... just going from an extreme opposite of Christianity (Athiesim)... and waking up one day saying... I am going to be a Christian, is a really hard thing to do... I think you guys couldnt understand how hard it is... So far I broken down 3 days in a row crying, and crying and cry... I was once ready to give up but then Joe, told me not to... that it is hard but he would be there for me, trying to see the better side, the easier side, the funner side of things... And so far he has helped... I am sure you all will too... I thank you all that I found this place and you all as a friend.... I hope I will become fast friends with you all and hopefully someday meet

The hardest thing to do is follow Christ. It's true. Look at what happened to those in the Bible that believed in Christ. John the Baptist was beheaded. Peter was stoned and then hung on a cross UPSIDE DOWN. His killers didn't even want him to die like Christ. Christ's followers were pursecuted, beaten, jailed and killed. And Christ himself was tortured, beaten and nailed to a cross. Even today, people all over the world are persecuted for believing in Him. Thank God we in America and Canada have the freedom to believe in whomever we want and don't have those worries (we hope).

I think the hardest thing for many people is the "embarassment" we feel when we believe in Christ and speak about Him. I know from my own experiences, before I was born again, I laughed at "Jesus freaks" and rolled my eyes at people who talked about Him all the time. I used to be ashamed to admit that I, too, believed in Him. It wasn't "cool" with my friends. Your peers may laugh at you and not include you in many of their activities. It's easier to go along with the crowd and party and have fun than it is to avoid temptation.

So, yes, it's very hard. Take one step at a time, like you said. Then one day, when you least expect it, you'll find yourself telling the least likely person to follow Christ, that you love Him more than anyone. Even yourself. I guarantee it!

God Bless You!

Katie, we're glad you're here!
And LoverOfAllMankind, welcome to the forum!

You mentioned God leaving you out of His Book of Life. He "is not willing that any should perish." - II Peter 3

He also says, http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=29&chapter=1&verse=18&version=31&context=verse "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool."
-Isaiah 1:18

You should feel free to ask for blessings, or tell Him anything. He wants to bless you!

The answer to all of your questions are to be found in God's word. But first things first. You must be born again. You must give your life to the Lord and He will lead you and guide you and help you during your stay on this earth. I encourage you to open the Bible to the new testament and begin reading, and as you read pray for understanding. I also encourage you to just pour out your heart to God- tell Him what you are telling us. He loves you so much. More than you can ever imagine and He wants to give you peace.
