I supported such "hamstringing." I'd like to see state welfare drop significantly if not to 0%.
That's no way to talk about our brave men and women in uniform, and the tax dollars that subsidize their lifestyles.I supported such "hamstringing." I'd like to see state welfare drop significantly if not to 0%.
If you are in the line to vote in front of a voting place and closing time rolls around, what happens? Do the doors just close and that's it? Do they let everyone in the line vote, but don't let others join the line? Or do they serve everyone who wants to vote and only finish once there's nobody left who wants to vote?Iowa governor signs controversial law shortening early and Election Day voting
The legislation, which passed both Republican-controlled chambers of the state legislature last month, will reduce the number of early voting days from 29 days to 20 days. It will also close polling places an hour earlier on Election Day (at 8 p.m. instead of 9 p.m.).
The bill additionally places new restrictions on absentee voting including banning officials from sending applications without a voter first requesting one and requiring ballots be received by the county before polls close on Election Day.

Because if you cast a vote after 8 o'clock, it turns into a gremlin.
Generally speaking the line closes but those who were in line can still vote.If you are in the line to vote in front of a voting place and closing time rolls around, what happens? How does that work? Does a poll worker take watch at the end of the line and turn away any latecomers?Generally speaking the line closes but those who were in line can still vote.
Yes.How does that work? Does a poll worker take watch at the end of the line and turn away any latecomers?
Polls in germany close at 6 pm. That's still 2 hours earlier than this proposal.Yes.
Are hour plus lines a thing in Germany or do you live up to the German efficiency stereotype?Polls in germany close at 6 pm. That's still 2 hours earlier than this proposal.
Then again, we vote on sunday. But still, if you can't make it to the line until 8, you can't make it until 9.
At least at the poling place I work at, we never had any serious lines. Maybe 3-4 people waiting 5 minutes, tops. Our poling place is near a church, so after church service is over there's a little rush. Are hour plus lines a thing in Germany or do you live up to the German efficiency stereotype?
Which is a feature, not a bug. Then again, I live at a pretty rural place. I have no first hand knowledge of inner metropolis poling stations. But as far as I know, those huge lines are mostly an american thing, and then only in minority districts.

Oh, I'd agree, for me it's definitely NOT "terrible" but it could be for others.I oppose restrictions on voting. However, I do NOT see these as terrible.
Please tell me which are terrible.
With regard to Election Day, the issue will be having enough voting places, and allowing everyone on line at 8PM to vote.
I think that the number of days of early voting was extended everywhere because of COVID. Too long and late events cannot affect the vote.
