That’s awful!!! So sorry that happened, Zaida!! Holy moly!!

I know this is supposed to be the fun thread, but I don't want to start a new thread for this - today I had the horrifying experience of a visiting priest missing my mouth with the spoon during communion. He hit my upper lip. So, I stuck my tongue out to try and stop any of the wine from spilling..... I think he was pretty horrified too.

I wonder about your experience - I may have an explanation .

In the Ukrainian Catholic Church you do not take the Spoon into your mouth - the priests literally drop the Eucharist into your mouth from the spoon - as it was explained to me , think of the mother bird feeding her nestlings - they tip their head back , open their beaks wide and she drops the food in.

When I Received in my Parish the first time after my Chrismation it wasn't easy for me , or for that matter my priest , till he twigged what the problem for me was, and explained - "Ah " said I -" the difference between Greek and Russians as my Sponsor [ GOA Priest] had said one day".

Not worth making a separate thread for, but most of this site makes me angry. I see people spewing out heresies and I just want to be like "you're wrong and I'll tell you why", but I can't because I realize my own knowledge of theology utterly sucks. Heck, Protestants definitely have an edge too in that they can cite nearly any verse in the Bible without having to look it up. I guess Sola Scriptura has at least one perk because for me it's like "uhh...I know the Bible says that somewhere..."
