Any of you guys seen anything on the new TV show, "Book of Daniel"? Has an actor impersonating Jesus as a regular character, drug-addicted priest, lesbians, alcoholic wife, etc, etc, etc.

i think the network is NBC, How do i contact them to protest?

Also, how about calling your cable company to cancel your subscription (state the exact reason - NBC) and encouraging others to do the same? I personnally believe there isn't enough quality programming to make television worth my time or money. Television did nothing but waste my life and allow me to compromise my morals. Even the news was peppered with pornographic commercials. At least with DVD movies, you can find out what your about to watch and don't have to worry about Victoria's Secret commercials popping up in the middle of an A&E Biography. I said goodbye to TV over ten years ago and I don't miss it at all.

I don't know... sounds like a real man (Daniel) with problems of his own, and many troubled people surronding him, is struggling to find his way and having conversations with Jesus as he does so. Of course, much of it is far more over the top than real life, hence the entertainment factor...

I mean, does Jesus have something to offer drug addicted pastors and lesbian family members or not?

Until I see it, I can't judge. I may hate the way Jesus is portrayed. It may also turn out to be a wonderful vehicle for talking with others about Christ. People who see it will have to think about having conversations with God, and we will be the ones who can say, "I do that every day."

Until I see it, I can't judge. I may hate the way Jesus is portrayed. It may also turn out to be a wonderful vehicle for talking with others about Christ. People who see it will have to think about having conversations with God, and we will be the ones who can say, "I do that every day."

This is a comedy made by a practicing homosexual making light of a pastor and his family wallowing in sin, making light of prayer, the church, of the appointed leadership of God. This is sickening to say the least. There is nothing funny about a family on the road to eternal damnation who heads a church of hungry souls. You don't need to watch filth to talk about prayer and salvation with anyone or to judge what is appropriate. If you think this is a wonderful vehicle for anything Christ-like you may need to wash your car.

Bliz, by the adds I've seen about it N is right. I won't be watching it but if you do make a list of advertisers for me please. Also I look forward to hearing your take on it. I thought it might be something fun to watch until they showed the last scene in their commercial blitz. The pastor was saying to Jesus I thought you sould be here to comfort me or something like that. Jesus sarcastically replies "where did you get that idea."

This is the problem with people who have never met Jesus trying to represent who He is. They are clueless and their humor is offensive. The Jesus I know would never be sarastic. People who are feeling emotionally weak do that.

It's called predjuice - pre-judging, as in "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?"

You know, there was another show that was scheduled to run, but I think protests ahead of time killed it. It was terribly violent, or so they say. One character murdered someone and then hid in the desert and was never punished for his crime. Another man tries to thwart unwanted homosexual advances by offering the gays his virgin daughters; later sleeps with both his daughters and impregnantes them! Another guy's wife is having fertility problems, so, with her approval, he sleeps with the maid and has a child by her, and then, becasue the wife (who by now had a child of her own) is jealous of the maid's boy, the husband packs up the maid and her baby and leaves them in the desert!

Of course, clever readers, you recognize these people from the Bible - Moses, Lot and Abraham. The retelling of their lives is not pretty, but it is Scripture. I dare say a whole lot of good Christians would want this "The Bible, The TV SHow" off the air based on a summary of it's plot and characters.

I may hate "Daniel"! It may be horrible, or badly written or stupid. Or it may be very disrespectful to Jesus and misrepresent Him. (I don't have a problem imagining Jesus using sacrasm in the right circumstances...) But I won't know until I watch it and then I'll decide what I think about it.

I fail to believe people will judge Christians by this show. If anything it will trigger their thinking. Perhaps it may be good for Christianity. In case you haven't noticed there are not many mainstream christian related shows. Can you imagine the people calling into the talkshows the following morning when these shows hit the air. No doubt such people make very good money knowing their target audience and what will sell to them. It wasn't an "opinion" but a description. I don't need to let a truck roll over my head just to determine whether I like it or not, nor do I need to take a full meal of the garbage NBC is presenting to know it is not something I want to pollute my mind with.

Let me know when they make the product tie-in with Charmin, though, and I'll buy a roll.

I didn't say I wanted to have a discussion about something I don't know. I said basically I value your opinion. I don't care to see it. The commercial upset me so badly I wish I had not had the misfortune of seeing it. You are the first person I've ever asked to give me a review of a television or movie that retorted with "uh,uh,uh Not til you've seen it first. Movie critics wouldn't stay in business very long if they would only share reviews with people who have seen the movie. I am basically willing to keep an open mind if a brother or sister in Christ want to share any redeeming value they find in this show. Right now I've got other things I would rather do with my time than be upset because they are representing Christ as mistreating one of His own.
You are a grownup. You feel free to watch any garbage you want but please don't accuse me of being close minded because something doesn't seem to pass the Phil 4:8 test.
