  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

New Creationist theory on how life spread out after the flood.

And Evols claiming the appendix in humans had another purpose millions of years ago doesn't prove a thing.

We claim that it has an obvious and important function in other species that it completely lacks in humans. The human vermiform appendix is like watching someone use a computer keyboard to pound in a nail. It's main function is obvious, and it isn't being used for that function.

Why can't we say that since it is the correct answer. Why are you so afraid of the truth?

Have you ever seen a creationist idea of "God" who didn't need to have truth handwaved away from Him?

But it's down to assumption rather than evidence. We obviously require different forms of bacteria to aid with digestion, so why couldn't the appendix in humans be a design for that feature? rather than it having evolved because it looks similar to something in another life form with a different purpose.

No, it isn't. We an OBSERVE that the appendix, as part of a well developed caecum, is used by herbivores in the digestion of cellulose. We can OBSERVE that the human vermiform appendix shares the same developmental origin and same form, but comes nowhere close to serving that important function found in other species. Instead, it serves a very rudimentary function that is similar to seeing someone use a broken computer keyboard to pound in a nail.

We obviously require different forms of bacteria to aid with digestion, so why couldn't the appendix in humans be a design for that feature?

People have their appendix removed and they still have bacteria in their gut that help digest food. People are born without an appendix and they still have a commensal population of flora in their gut. Also, no human uses bacteria in the appendix to digest cellulose.

lol, this is the most insanely stupid creationist theory I've ever heard XD

And that's quite the accomplishment -- traditionally, there's always been pretty stiff competition in that category.

Why couldn't the blind man determine for himself if I gave him the proper rules and if the apparatus is operating correctly?
The blind man is putting his faith in your rules and faith that your apparatus is working correctly, and even then he is only detecting photons.
Please show evidence that the universe is being affected by God.
Please demonstrate to the blind man that the photons are caused by the sun.
He knows as well as we do.
No he doesn’t. He’s blind. We can see what he can't.
The telescope is pointing towards a very strong producer of photons.
The universe is pointing toward a very strong producer of the universe.

Even still, the blind man doesn’t know where the telescope is pointing. He has to take your word for it by faith.

Nothing is proven to be true in science.

Educated guess at best. Blind speculation at worst. :)

Nothing is proven to be true in science is surely a valid statement. Heck we don't even know if we are living in a super virtual reality. It could turn out that we are just software programs running in an illusion.

Wouldn't that invalidate the Bible though? You can't believe in evolution but you think we might be part of some simulated reality a la The Matrix?

So is that just a hypothetical or something you actually believe?

The idea of life being like the movie 'the matrix'? I don't believe it, it's an idea put forward by scientists though, based on the behaviour of quantum particles. Quantum entanglement and the idea that the particles can go back in time and do things in a different way. The way they can be influenced simply by watching them.
