CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes I did. Came home to see my family for a short time and it was all good. I ate too much and like ran 5 miles afterwards though.

No, most of them are pretty small and scrawny. Anyways even though there is branch rivalry, it isn't that bad at all anymore. Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines. We're all one team.

I live about 130 miles southwest of Chicago.
My dad. I aspire to be like him. Came from a huge family, started with nothing in life, made something of himself with hard work and determination, got married, raised me. He has awesome traits I wish I had.

That's the spirit. I've worked with members of all services and they all have a healthy respect for each other. A little joking never hurt though.

I'm a reserve component and also in Army ROTC. It's all the joy of active duty and college at the same time. I PT in the morning with my platoon for 2 hours, go to my classes, come back in the afternoon for incentive training. I train on weekends and in the summer also. I have to wear my Army Combat Uniform, salute, obey, be "prepared" for room inspection and all that stuff. I don't get much of the "college experience" as if I'm not studying, I'm training. Upon graduation I will be commissioned as a 2nd Lt.

USAA is a financial services company that caters to the military. I've been a member for a long time (my father was an Army officer right after Vietnam). If you haven't heard about them yet, you will once you commission.
Once you get near graduation, ask USAA about the "precommission loan". $25k @ 2% interest with no credit check FTW
I'm not sure on the ROTC; will you have to go to an OBC? If you're infantry, you'll be at Fort Benning for it.

What do you think you would be doing if the Army were not pone of your Passions?
I would either be an accountant (which is what my major is) or I would be a worship leader. I am well versed in guitar, bass, and piano. I just don't have much time to exercise those talents anymore. Sad really.

Seems like not enough time for anything you know.
Ever since I became an "adult," time is something that I never have anymore. Seems so with my old friends also. I have a hard time going to the gym or even cleaning up my room once in awhile sometimes.
