  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am currently a cathlic, although I have not for a very long time been involved in church and have lost faith especially within the cathlic religion. I have been drawn toward becoming a christian and really need some advise. I'm pretty much clueless as to where to begin. I could really use some guidance. Thanx

MY SISTER,

Where did you get the idea that Catholics aren't Christians?

A BOND-SLAVE OF CHRIST,

As for where to start, I think the best place to start is with asking God to guide you toward him. Pray for him to give you understanding and draw you to him.

Have you read the gospels? John and Matthew especially are really good for understanding what Jesus is all about. Biblegateway.com has many Bible versions available online where you can read those gospels. I prefer the NIV version because it is easy to understand but still a good translation, but there are several other versions available as well.

Do you feel separated form God? Do you want to be closer to him? Ask him to forgive you for your sins, and you'll be on your way :)

An active faith in Christ Jesus, admitting that you do wrong (confession), and repentance (turning from your sins) are all part of a commitment to Christ.

But they go generally in that order- I wouldn't expect anyone to repent before they have faith, or confess after they've repented. Salvation isn't an event, but a process. And to me, Christianity is not a religion but a relationship with God the Father through His Son Jesus Christ, based off of what They teach in the Bible.

There is nothing wrong with being a christian and having the catholic religeon. I, too am Catholic-but after reading and studying the Word on a daily basis, God has revealed many truths to me on how i should live my life for Him. Religeon is a man-made tradition. Faith and grace come from God. The best thing to do is to read the advice on these forums and follow it. Read the bible, ask God to reveal His Son to you, and then you can decide for yourself what would be best for you.
