• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I was resting listening to Gods Word and I was compelled to explain this to our new friend who is suffering. Since im bad at explaining this I looked around and was led to post this, it tells you about this Sin: Read it carefully :)

Matthew 12:31-32 says, "And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come."

Luke 12:10 says, "And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven."

The unpardonable sin is sometimes called the "unforgivable sin" or "blasphemy of the Holy Spirit." Let's begin by defining the word "blasphemy." It can be defined as "defiant irreverence" and would constitute cursing God or degrading Him. It could also mean relating evil to God.

Matthew 12:31-32 is referencing Jesus performing miracles in the power of the Holy Spirit. Through these miracles, it is very clear that Jesus is the promised Messiah. In this passage, the Pharisees claimed that Jesus was empowered by a demon named Beelzebub (Matthew 12:24). They were connecting Jesus and the Holy Spirit's power to Hell, not heaven. Jesus was saying this was the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit - it was unpardonable. They had rejected Him.

The thought of an unpardonable sin has brought grief to many people throughout history. Perhaps the guilt and fear is unnecessary. If you are afraid that you have committed the unpardonable sin, that is sure proof that you have not! Those who committed the unpardonable sin had no godly regrets. They had no interest in the forgiveness of God. Remember, Peter denied Jesus three times, yet Jesus forgave him.

It appears that the situation of this unpardonable sin against the Holy Spirit existed only while Christ was ministering on earth. The unpardonable sin, like the one in Matthew 12, cannot be committed today. We are not able to attribute to Satan the miracles of God, as performed by Jesus Christ.

However, when people reject Jesus Christ and His gift of eternal life, they are in a sense committing the unpardonable sin of unbelief. Anyone who desires to be saved by God's grace, has not committed the unpardonable sin. However, a person who lives in rejection and unbelief until his death, will not be pardoned. This person will spend an eternity in hell apart from God. 2 Corinthians 7:10 says, "Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death." Those who sincerely desire God's forgiveness will receive it! All you need to do is to believe that Jesus died for your sins and rose three days later. Then you confess and repent of your sins and ask Jesus into your life as your Lord and Savior. You are saved by grace through faith.

You have free will, you dont have to let any of these thoughts turn you against God. They are just part of your sickness.

nothing in your head will take you away from God and His love for you in Christ Jesus.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39

I want to add something, and its not to scare you but because I love you enough to speak the truth to you. They will try to take you away from Him. and so will the spiritual warfare that Christians will endure.

You need to study Gods Words and mediate on them, get them deep rooted into your heart so that when this stuff does arise, you can put the armor of God on (read up on Ephesians 6:11-17)and defeat this.

Dont give up , keep the faith. and run the race with all you got. If you fall count on God picking you back up again

Also, we don't "diagnose" on this forum, but if these kind of fears ARE frequent for you, you might consider that you do struggle with religious OCD and you may want to consider consulting a counselor and/or a psychiatrist if you haven't already, that is. They really can help you struggle against this affliction. Otherwise, you often just end up battling these fears (or others) over and over:prayer::hug:

Yes, I totally believe God will forgive you for these thoughts. They are fueled by the OCD struggles. As you can tell by reading this forum, it's very common. I'm glad you are going to see a counselor. Hope that helps! Prayers for you too!:prayer:

God will not hold a person responsible for unwanted thoughts no more than he will a person who thinks or utters something blasphemous during a fever .

one thing i believe is true by the very nature of this is that the unpardonable sin however it is commited is something done willfully malisciously without concern for the consequences and with full knowledge of what one is doing and it cannot be done without the knowing the fullest implications of what one is doing ..
