If you are going to be abusive then own up to it or you will just do it again in the future. I called someone on that word a few months ago and now I am wondering if it was you. I won't report you because that is done to much and we are adults. By not owning up it is prideful. I will say nothing else on it this time but it changes my attitude about you that you are not being truthful. Apologies mean nothing if you aren't truly regretful. .

Except there were lots of other people before those two, and they didn't live in the same time place, and so on. You might want to go check Genesis.

The point was not where they lived in time and the chain of people throughout history; just that science acknowledged all of humanity could be traced to two individuals. And finding that "link" would have been true no matter who was tested and when they lived (actually).

Even if the scientists who "discovered" this didn't quite understand the completeness of what they were looking at.

DNA is an interesting thing.

Someone had made a comment earlier about "junk" DNA. Yet if we take any one (I used the term "species" loosely, because I think the definition from a creative Genesis standpoint is a lot broader than we define it currently as.) and look at all the possible varieties of adaptation to environments that's inherent in any one individual's genome. It's easy to see that all that excess DNA has a purpose, even if that purpose does not directly apply to that organism, but to it's decedents 10 generations later!

And I don't believe where it says one of God's days "is as" a thousand years to ancient man, to whom a thousand was a lot back then, most of them couldn't even count that high, etc, anyway, I don't think it is literal, but is meant to convey that one of God's days is a very, very, very very very, long, long time... The fact that it says "is as" means to me that it is not meaning to be exact at all...

I think it is meant to represent and epoch or an "age"... The term of a "thousand years" was meant to be symbolic and not literal in a lot of other places in the Bible as well, and was meant to denote an incredibly long time or an age, or another era, etc... I don't think Christ's thousand year reign is meant to be a literal thousand years either, but is a new, very long era, or new epoch or age also, after this fallen one, etc...

Well, I was taught Darwinian evolution in school too and I'm 48 years old. I just assumed this theory was true until I ran into people who talked about believing in a literal 6 / 24 hour day creation. And then I had to think about that.

In the light of considering God as the Creator and the Bible as Divine revelation; I had to ask myself "what does it mean" then? I'd gone into the military and eventually ran into a ministry that explained how to study the Bible. Now I did come to the realization that there were things they taught that weren't exactly Scriptural; but I only learned that from doing a lot of digging through the Scriptures themselves.

So when I began to encounter ministries like Answers in Genesis and other types of theistic scientists, I listened to them and decided I was going to do so with an open mind; not automatically assuming they were wrong because "Well that can't be true because that's not what I was taught!"

I began to look at evidence with a more critical and thinking eye and began to separate material evidence from theory. Where there other explanations other than what they gave me.

Now I've also seen people be too dogmatic on the other side of this too. (Like people who say dinosaurs aren't real and the bones were "planted" there by Satan. LOL) Obviously if we are finding fossils and digging up material evidence of creatures who structurally very similar to life that's here now; that's not a "Satanic trick" there's another explanation for that.

I was watching a program just the other night that was talking about a layer of meteor ash in the fossil record and the idea that this giant meteor hit the earth and its crater is part of the Gulf of Mexico. Now taking for granted that this layer of meteor ash really exists (and there's no logical reason to believe that it doesn't). Well interesting, how does that fit in with Noah's flood?

I've enmassed enough knowledge of both the fossil record and the Bible in 30 plus years to know Noah's flood was Earth's single most cataclysmic extinction event. I've also enmassed enough knowledge of astronomy to know that one way planets get water is by ice on meteors flying through the solar system(s). Did Earth start out with less water pre flood? It's possible. I don't know. I don't dismiss that outright because "Oh I wasn't taught that!"

So I started to contemplate a large meteor hitting an Earth which at that time only had one large continent; as part of the flood event and what the immediate impact of that might have been? We know that apparently everything on land died. We see that in the fossil record.

Now did Noah actually originate on the far eastern side of the continent (which would have been "China") The massive title wave from this impact goes west to east over this single continent; picks up Noah on the eastern coast of "China" and sends him "out to sea" over the Pacific ocean. He goes around the globe and eventually lands on what we think is Turkey today. Now if that's what happened, that would make some logical sense because that would have gotten him "out of the way" of the majority of the debris coming across the continent from the title wave.

Now did this impact on one side of the planet actually cause it to rain on the other side of the planet giving a several days in advance of water to "pick up the ark" before the title wave hit? I don't know?

All that is just theory based on geological evidence we have that there is a thin layer of meteor dust that covers the globe; with the vast majority of the fossil record being under that meteorite layer. I don't know enough about the laws of physics and the behavior of displaced water to know if my theory is "on target" or not? It's possible. There's nothing in that theory that contradicts Scripture.

So that's how I tend to look at the hard evidence science has found, through the lens of the Bible. Most of the events that happen in the Bible happen relatively fast. At the very most, in the lifespan of a particular individual. Now some people in the Bible lived to be 100's of years old. That's a good length of time in comparison to our modern life span; but it's still not millions of years.

So yes, I came to a point of believing the earth was formed in 6 literal 24 hour days. Why did God do it that way. Why not? The entity that we define as God is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, immortal and has no beginning and no end. Because of the infinite nature of the entity that is all these characteristics why create the Earth in 6 days? Why not. Anyone who claims a 6 literal 24 hour days created universe is impossible; I say their concept of God is too small. Just as there's no understanding from our perspective how or why to do it that way; there's no reason not to either!

And just to keep in mind, we are not talking about just this planet. We are talking about the entire created universe. Everything that exists; including other planets that may have life on them. "The universe can't be 13000 years old!" Well... why not? If God really is what we claim to believe He is; there's no reason this can't be true!
