eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat...
Eat little bits of food, ALL the time.
Seriously--just try it and see if it works.
You'll still be woozy, but it makes a MAJOR difference in HOW woozy...
The emptier the stomach, the sicker the sick! *grin* During my first trimester, I'll puke on an empty stomach, but if I'm contantly nibbling on healthy foods (a few almonds here, a half slice of toast w/ peanut butter there, a little bit of yogurt there, a touch of steamed veggies there...) then I'm generally tolerable.
A good dose of protein before bed often really helps the next morning--something you can try, anyhow. I usually do a spoonful of peanut butter (the healthy natural kind, of course, not the nasty stuff with the hydrogenated oils [poison!] and sugar and stuff). Another great one is a healthy yogurt--get a full-fat one, because your pregnant body
needs good healthy fats to grow baby's brain, and the fat in cow's milk helps your body process ALL the nutrients in it ("Brown Cow" is an AWESOME brand if you have it in your area--whole milk and sweetened with maple syrup!)
Another thing that some find helpful for combatting nausea (and is safe for pregnancy) is
ginger--in the form of tea or supplement pills or fresh grated or whatever. I have a friend (not a healthy eater, and I don't recommend her diet--heehee!) who survives her first trimesters on a diet of gingersnaps and lemondrops!
Peppermint isn't recommended for pregnancy, but spearmint is ok--so a tea with
spearmint is another great grab--I'm a green tea with mint fan, personally...
And yeah, the best part is knowing that for most women, the nausea (and fatigue) usually subsides around 12-14 weeks. I'm 12 weeks and really noticing a HUGE difference in my nausea--for a while there, the sight of either black tea, or salsa, or oatmeal (I know, weird food aversions, huh?) would send me into stomach convulsions!~
Love in Him,
Molly
