  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ain't my job. God gifted others to do that.

I don't need to know the molecular formula for aspirin before I take one; nor the pH of the ground that a potato was grown in before I eat it; do I?

God gifted others to draw conclusions from their observations and efforts -- you seem to have no difficulty rejecting God when it suits you.

I'm telling you slow-moving water did not. I don't believe in deep time.

And, since you lack the ability and desire to look into anyone's beliefs (including your own), your belief can take a hike.

It's actually quite pathetic, AV -- you expend far more effort attempting (and failing) to convince people that you have something worth listening to than actually having something worth listening to.

Ain't my bag.

Never stopped you from yakking before.

I have a set of Bible-based heuristics I use to determine what I believe.

If some scientific conclusion disagrees with those heuristics, then it can take a hike.

I think I'm at least somewhat familiar with what others believe.

It's a set of heuristics they use called the scientific method.

And for the record, others don't advertise what they believe that well.

That's why I have to keep asking them what scientific discipline they are educated in.

So it's not that I lack the ability and desire; it's that I'm not going to ask every time I go to respond to someone.

You, on the other had are an exception.

Remember our little discussion on the three types of poetry from years ago?

I'm still impressed with your answer: so I have no difficulty remembering you're a professor of literature.

(That and you standing on a desk looking ... well ... impressing.)

Including the ones who do believe in deep time? Do you put effort into studying why they believe that, or is "diabolical mimicry" your go to answer for that as well?

And composing those heuristics (assuming they are indeed original and not plagiarized) was the greatest effort you've put in.

For those who adhere to deep time despite what the Bible says, I ascribe that to everything from obstinance to poor discipleship to science worship.

As my pastor is fond of saying:

"Most people say, I KNOW WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS, BUT ..."

And that BUT can include anything from ... BUT STRONG'S CONCORDANCE SAYS ... to ... BUT SCIENCE SAYS ...

In my opinion, my single greatest contribution here is My Apple Challenge.

My "magnum opus," so to speak.

Albeit I give God the credit for that one, not myself.

My second favorite ... and a close second ... is My Raisin Bread Challenge.

Oh, of course not.

Well, not to anyone who actually understands geology...

Are you telling me that fast-moving water cannot etch into the earth's surface?

Of course not. Fast moving water will indeed carve into the earth's surface and leave unmistakable indications.

But it doesn't look anything like meandering rivers.

Are these the same people who would agree that Egypt existed before the Flood, and that Pluto was once our ninth planet, and that Thalidomide was once a pre-natal wonder drug, and that Jesus was born in 4 BC, and ... ?

If you mean people who understand that reality is the best source of information about reality, then yes.

What would it look like then?

Pray tell, if God told the waters to take a serpentine path to a siphoning point, what would this look like when it's done?

And still, you put in zero effort yourself.

As my pastor is fond of saying:

"Most people say, I KNOW WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS, BUT ..."

And that BUT can include anything from ... BUT STRONG'S CONCORDANCE SAYS ... to ... BUT SCIENCE SAYS ...

Whatever your pastor says -- so much easier to obey than to work.

Erosion caused by fast moving water looks like this:

On the other hand, erosion caused by slow moving water looks like this...

Do you see a difference there, AV? Or would you like me to actually specify what the differences are?

Beliving oneself speaking for god(s) is not a healthy sign.

Also, none of your ”challange” thread has accomplished anything more then cementing your position on ”fundies say the darndest things”.

Your greatest effort was portraying yourself as God.

Kind of says it all, doesn't it?

Ya ... one still has water in it, and the other doesn't.

Of course, anyone with an ounce of sense would realise that either of them could have water, and either of them could be dry.

But I'm sure you knew that. I suspect this is just another one of your attempts to avoid the obvious.
