Hi,
My previous testimony "Christ's Passion Changed Me" was not accurrate. So, I decided to rewrite my testimony. It is below:
My Testimony---A life of Servant hood, and Obedience to a Calling:
If there is one thing I'm thankful for in life, it is that I know that I have eternal life because now I know that I can face life's challenges with a smile. My life is that of a servant. When there is someone hurting, I try my best to comfort the individual. If someone needs prayer, I pray for his or her needs. In today's hectic society, serving others is low on our priorities. Yet, our Heavenly Father commands us to become a servant.
His Son, Jesus Christ came to the earth to be a servant. He did not come to the world to condemn it, but to save it! (John 3:17-19). There is a famous quote on servant hood that I wish to share:
The true leader serves. Serves people. Serves their best interests, and in so doing will not always be popular, may not always impress. But because true leaders are motivated by loving concern rather than a desire for personal glory, they are willing to pay the price. Eugene B. Habecker, The Other Side of Leadership
Jesus was the perfect example of a servant. When he walked the earth, some 2,000 years ago, He was the first true minister. His time was spent healing the sick, comforting the broken-hearted, and preaching the Gospel of Salvation to the multitudes. History has shown us many examples of people who give everything for the cause of Christ. Take for example Mother Theresa, the patron saint of India.
She was an excellent example of a servant. Born in India, she was raised amongst the poor. Throughout her life, she witnessed to the multitudes, thus, fulfilling her calling. Today, we remember Mother Theresa for her compassion for the unsaved and the poor. A famous quote by her is: A sacrifice to be real must cost, must hurt, must empty ourselves. The fruit of silence is prayer, the fruit of prayer is faith, the fruit of faith is love, the fruit of love is service, and the fruit of service is peace.
My Christian life may not be perfect, but I strive to fight for the cause of Christ. I find everyday that God continues to bless me with chances to witness, to serve. If there is one thing I want to be remembered as by my family, friends, and peers, it is that I was a servant to the cause of Christ. Matthew 23:11 is very true about me. Like Christ, when He washed His disciples feet, I too become the servant.
The message remains the same, yet the times may change. I still preach one Gospel. During my early years as a Christian, I was not sure of my faith, what my calling was. However I have learned through discipleship, that my calling is the one all Christians have. It is to obey Gods will and follow the course set before me. Although I may not understand His will for my life, I put my trust in HIM. Without Christ, I am nothing; as it is written in Scripture.
The Bible says:
Hebrews 11:8
By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to set out for a place that he was to receive as an inheritance; and he set out, not knowing where he was going.
I translate that verse to this:
Hebrews 11:8
By faith Jesse obeyed when he was called to set out for a place that he was to receive as an inheritance; and he set out, not knowing where he was going.
As the song Hungry by Kathryn Scott says:
I'm falling on my knees
Offering all my needs
Jesus You're all
This heart is living for
May we all strive to finish the race set before us. May we all come hungry for the love of Christ. It is my prayer that the we receive the calling with open minds and open hearts.
In Jesus Name,
AMEN
