• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I am currently 22 years old and living with Crohn's Disease. I was diagnosed at 20 years old and spent most of the last 2 years struggling through it. I have never been through anything nearly as painful and difficult as CD. Last summer I had to undergo surgery and had a section of my intestine removed. Since then I have felt 100 times better and have been really working on my diet and watching what I eat. I was never a christian growing up but after spending weeks and weeks in the hospital I was starting to break down and lose hope. And for the first time in my life I looked to god for help to get me through my disease. I was amazed in the power of god. If I didn't have his help through all of that I don't know if I would have had the strength to keep going. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life and I thank god for the strength I needed to get healthy and back on my feet.

Since then I have never questioned my faith and will soon be going to church with my newly wed wife, son and soon to be new baby. I just wanted to share my experience I had with god.

Thank you, that was touching. I accepted Christ Jesus' gift of eternal life when I was a young teenager. . . I truly do not know how I would have lived without His strength! And I often wonder how someone without Christ gets through the trials they also experience.

Wow, what a story. Rotten disease to have - I know it is very painful and debilitating. But what a wonderful testimony. Praying that you go from strength to strength, and also that your disease remains copeable with. Take care and thankyou for sharing this with us.

Sometimes the Lord brings us low to discipline us and bring us back to dependance on Him. We see it time and again with Israel throughout the OT. He is ever faithful to His own. Chron's is a brutal illness, but in our weaknesses, God's glory can be magnified. What a blessed hope!
