  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't know if I'm necessarily new to Christianity, considering I was raised Catholic, but I've been struggling with my spirituality for over a decade and now that I've come back to Christianity for good, everything feels new and confusing again.

I don't know what made me walk away from God for so many years. I guess that I just didn't feel His presence in my life, and with all the bad things I was going through, I wondered how God could care about me so much and still put me through so many bad things. It was hard for me to believe in a God who would leave me alone through all I went through. (And I did feel utterly alone in those times.)

I've been having some deep religious conversations with a co-worker of mine, though, and it's helped me come back to Christianity. (I also think the fact that the office I've been working in since May is full of Christian women is God's hand in things as well.) I still feel a little lost - I don't know what church to go back to, I don't know where to start. I know I don't really fit in the Catholic mold, that's for sure.

Anyway, that's my story. I feel better, now that I've gotten it out.

Hi and welcome to CF! Awesome they way He planted you in a work environment that's like a "Church!" I encourage you to focus on His Love, and anything that brings that into your life more. This is also a great discerner for which Churches to participate in - as well as which to avoid. I don't know what's available where you are, but I've only recently discovered there is such a thing as Orthodox Christianity, (through this forum no less) and many former RC's relate to it very well. RC makes no sense to me whatsoever, but everything the Orthodox teach checks out w/ Scripture completely, and at least as importantly, The Orthodox posters here display both a good understanding of our Faith as well as a good attitude in difficult threads. So that might be worth looking into, but really any place that teaches the Bible and shows forth His Love ...

Hello princes,

The catholics kicked me out becasue of me marring a protestant. That was after I was widowed from a catholic marriage of 15 years. I can't imagine someone like you who was raised catholic leaving the church because of what the girls at work are talking about.

You mentioned, "His presence", so if you want to follow in my foot steps towards "his presence", then follow me into a Vineyard Charismatic Church. It's actually the third wave of the charismatic movement where we are heavy into the presence of God during our worship service. Give it a try, I'm sure that you will be blessed.

Have you asked your co-worker if you can go to their church? Seems like a logical place to try to me.

I've asked her, and she's currently not going to her usual church because of some problems she's had with a few of the members there. I may ask one of my other co-workers what church she goes to, and see if I could go with her.

Well you might consider a Lutheran church as well (probably not ELCA...they are too liberal). If you find one that uses the LSB or Divine Service it will be close to Mass.

I didn't fully understand grace and salvation until I became Lutheran.

Hi, glad you decided to come back.

We can't go by feelings alone because they are like a roller coaster. Trials are for a reason-its not because God is mean.

1Pe 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.

1Pe 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you.

Ro 12:12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer.

2Co 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

Ro 5:3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience.

I'd recommend that you look for a coworker's invitation as well.

If not, there seem to be some churches I'd probably try out, if I were googling around your town.

Man, it must get cold up there!

Well, anyway, let us know if you don't find something that's open for your quandary. There really are churches that focus on this, and aren't really trying to do more than share what they know of Jesus with you.
