Catch up, chief.Given that trees can live to be 1,000 years old, I suppose that, on some planet somewhere, there might be organisms with nervous systems iving to be that old. Not Earth, of course.
Oh, and I thought you said that you had done with your challenge threads. That resolution didn't last long, did it?
Catch up, Hitch.I thought you swore of challenge threads, AV.
I'm not a historian but here is an excerpt from the Bible Knowledge Commentary...Was Jesus born while Quirinius was governor of Syria, or Herrod king of Judea?
I do mind.
I'm talking about hyoo mun bee yings.
I believe I even used the term "earth-like" in describing this other planet that so far, hasn't been given a name.
Homo medusozoa can take a hike.
The problem is not the planet, the problem is the human being. There is nothing about Earth which precludes extreme longevity, it is a failing of human biology. So the hypothetical planet could be Earth inhabited by beings with a different biology. No need to alter the laws of the universe. If you believe that the universe has always been running under the same set of laws, I challenge you to describe to me a hypothetical planet in existence today where people routinely live to be 600-900 years old, and tell me how they live that long under current conditions.

So, not as accurate as you intimated, then.I'm not a historian but here is an excerpt from the Bible Knowledge Commentary...
a. Jesus' birth (2:1-7)
2:1-2.
Jesus' birth was dated by Luke as falling in the reign of Caesar Augustus, who was officially made the ruler of the Roman Empire in 27 b.c. and ruled to a.d. 14. (See the list of Roman emperors.) Because Herod the Great's reign ended in 4 b.c., Jesus was born before that time. The mention of Quirinius as governor of Syria poses a problem. He was governor in a.d. 6-7, much too late for Jesus' birth. Therefore does the word first hprôtê refer, as in the niv, to a first, that is, an earlier, census by Quirinius? If so, one would have to posit a previous governorship for Quirinius at about 4 b.c. Perhaps a better solution is to take "first" to mean "before," as it does, for example, in John 15:18. Luke 2:2 would then read, "this was the census that took place before Quirinius was governor of Syria" (i.e., before a.d. 6). (Bible Knowledge Commentary)
122:7.1 In the month of March, 8 B.C. (the month Joseph and Mary were married), Caesar Augustus decreed that all inhabitants of the Roman Empire should be numbered, that a census should be made which could be used for effecting better taxation. The Jews had always been greatly prejudiced against any attempt to “number the people,” and this, in connection with the serious domestic difficulties of Herod, King of Judea, had conspired to cause the postponement of the taking of this census in the Jewish kingdom for one year. Throughout all the Roman Empire this census was registered in the year 8 B.C., except in the Palestinian kingdom of Herod, where it was taken in 7 B.C., one year later. Was Jesus born while Quirinius was governor of Syria, or Herrod king of Judea?
Maybe you didn't read what 'I intimated'...So, not as accurate as you intimated, then.
Yes, I pointed out that the bible is not historically accurate. Want another one?Maybe you didn't read what 'I intimated'...
"Seeing the historical accuracy in so many areas that the bible touches on, it would seem the burden of proof is on the ones challenging the Bible's claim in this instance."
'In so many areas' does not necessarily include a few obscure passages. But go ahead draw up your standards by playing 'gotcha' with the obscurities rather than what is clearly accurate.
Actually he wants a planet where people enjoy extreme longevity "under current conditions". He hasn't said he wants the same biology, he's said he wants a planet operating under the current laws of physics.Yes, but as AV has already stated, he wants the same biology.
You only pointed out what you perceive as an inaccuracy. I gave you a possible explanation. In any case, have fun basing your eternal future on minutiae while ignoring the glaring evidence of fulfilled prophecy and the eyewitness accounts of the bodily resurrection from the grave by Jesus Christ.Yes, I pointed out that the bible is not historically accurate. Want another one?
...while ignoring the glaring evidence of fulfilled prophecy...
..and the eyewitness accounts of the bodily resurrection from the grave by Jesus Christ...
basing your eternal future
Then why did you say this:We don't have eyewitness accounts. We have translations of secondhand accounts that make bold claims without providing the necessary evidence.
How do you know they are just wrong, if you don't know what they are?Skreeper said:I can give you several examples of prophecies that are just wrong.

Name one.I can give you several examples of prophecies that are just wrong. Is that evidence against your claim?
The Apostles were firsthand eyewitnesses willing to die for their testimonies. The empty tomb stood as a witness against the nay sayers then as well as now.We don't have eyewitness accounts. We have translations of secondhand accounts that make bold claims without providing the necessary evidence.
I've been through many religions including atheism before Jesus Christ revealed Himself to me in His Word and visions. You dismiss every other religions heavens and hells. Do you worry about your eternal future should one of the others religions be true?
