Non sequitur. Humans are sometimes eaten by wild animals. Does that change whether those people partake in the afterlife?

If we call the scriptures "A guide to the afterlife" then the guide says that animals are here for us to eat
and Jesus did not come here to save monkeys or chimps and especially not fish in particular.

This is the post I was responding to:

I'm under the impression that they do not partake in the afterlife given that the beefy ones are served up by McDonald's. Not at McDonalds.

This first post is a non sequitur. What they serve at McDonald's has no bearing on anything.

Now you have a new claim. "Animals are here for us to eat". The wording indicates that you, like many Christians, believe that in the narrative of the Bible, animals were created for the purpose of being eaten by humans, which is clearly not the case. The Bible does not say that animals were created as a foodstuff. In fact, mankind isn't even given permission to eat animals until after the flood, which is many generations after Adam. A more accurate statement would be "the Bible allows humans to eat animals". But that still doesn't speak to their afterlife status. Just because you assume that your food doesn't have an afterlife doesn't mean that is the case. It also doesn't mean that your food does have an afterlife.

As for your second claim about who or what Jesus came to save, according to Colossians 1:20, Jesus saved fish, monkeys, rocks, trees, clouds, planets, stars, black holes...the whole universe..."all things".

New International Version
and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

And John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world", not "For God so loved humans".

He actually made it quite clear, on more than one occasion.

What is confusing about it to you?

LOL! It wasn't my post that seemed confused but the other member's post that appeared confused and needing clarity.

I'm here to help when i can.

i'm awesome like that.

Honestly brinny....I've always had trouble with the whole "man was created in god's image" passage. How does god have an image? Does he have a body? Does he reflect light?

I only ask because I've heard so many things about god from christians that makes it seem like he can't be seen. I've heard he's "immaterial" or "infinite" or that if he were to appear before you...your head would explode (no joke...I've actually heard that). All these things make it seem like not only does god not have an image, but if he didn't...you wouldn't be able to see it.

Fair enough.

Of COURSE you don't get that.

You're an atheist.

I'll assume you do get it then....

Can you explain?

I would love to try.

Alas, i am not God however.

Only HE can clarify and make Himself known.

I would be willing to pray for you, however, if you wish, that He reveals Himself to you.

Would you like me to?

No need...

If you don't understand it yourself...you can just say so. I don't believe in prayer anymore than I do god.

I know, right?

I respect that.

We ALL must believe in what we must, or not.

I thought the other poster made his point clear.

It was your perception of what he said that was unclear.

Unfortunately that was not my perception of his post, as my perception is that it appeared un-clear and confused, at least from my perception.

But hey, you are entitled to your perception of my perception of his post, even if your perception is not in sync with my own perception.

'Tis ok.

All perceptions matter.

They really do.

Now, this could mean anything from being a rough pencil sketch to being an identical copy.
Well it certainly isn't a rough pencil sketch of an ape.

Just like I dont look like any of the various stages of fetal development, thankfully. But at one point I did. And at one point our ancestors looked vaguely like apes.

That's where science capitalizes on its myopia and uses that vagueness to connect the dots.
