• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hello, i'm new to the forum and am currently struggling big time. I have had a problem with alcohol since I can remember, and lost alot of money recently.. I am on the verge of homelessness constantly. However as from today I really do want to turn everything around, I have been sober for a good week now. So I thought joining this forum would help me too, I read The Bible and try to follow the good path. Unfortunately I am struggling big time right now, and have almost given up. Just wanted to introduce myself.

- Thank you, and God Bless.

Praise God for the progress you have made. Be of good courage and press into Jesus, resist the devil and he will flee from you. Quote the scripture to your addiction, let your addiction know, Thus saith the Lord......

For God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of POWER, LOVE and a SOUND MIND.
I can do ALL THINGS thru CHRIST who strengthens me !!!

God Bless you and prayers for deliverance and healing in Jesus name. Welcome to CF and I pray many here will lift you up in prayer and encouragement.

POChrist, I'm praying for you that God will be with you during your struggles and give you strength to remain sober. If you haven't already, ask Him for help, ask him to draw you near. Have you committed your life to Christ? On this forum you are among believers who will share the Good News of Jesus Christ with you. Welcome and I congratulate you on taking the first steps toward a life of sobriety. In Jesus name I pray that God's will be done. Amen.

Thank you so much for being so kind. I have a few Bibles and have been trying to follow God on and off for the past five to six years I believe. I just don't really know where to start or what to do. I also don't know what the best thing to do in my situation would be, maybe I should get away for a while on a break.

Start with the Gospels (the first 4 books of the New Testament) then the Acts of the Apostles.

Here's some favorite verses:

Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”

Mark 1:15, “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”

Ephesians 2:8-9, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”

John 3:3, Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”

John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.’

2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

Acts 4:12, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Hebrews 9:27, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”

Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Matthew 7:21–23, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

1 Corinthians 6:9-10, “Do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men, nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”

Matthew 3:8, “Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.”

Romans 10:9-10, “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
