Aren't we in an ice age right now?

We are supposed to be coming out of an interglacial and going into an ice age based on the Milankovich Cycles. But the global average temperature and the polar ice coverage on the North Pole are going in the WRONG DIRECTION.

In a very real sense we have actually possibly overpowered the forcings due to orbital obliquity! Pretty amazing for a hairless ape relatively new on the scene.

If I recall, according to the researchers who initially figured out the Milankovich Cycles impact on Cenozoic glaciation, we may be several thousand years late to the next ice age. But I don't have that quote handy right now.

And of course there's a reply to those issues:

Just out of curiosity, what is your area of expertise?

The climate is changing all the time, it has been since the beginning. Is that simple enough for YOU? Why did they change the name from "Global warming"?

Yes the global climate has changed in the past in earth's history. In many cases we know the mechanisms that caused that. AND that is how we know the CURRENT WARMING is likely DOMINATED BY HUMAN ACTIVITIES.

That's the beauty of paleoclimatology.

As for the "name change", well, it really isn't a change. No one thinks there's anything other than global WARMING going on on a global basis. LOCALLY climate my change and get colder but globally the earth is getting WARMER. In fact that's been the consensus for years now.

May you could study some actual climate science?

You come across as a smart cookie to me, and I'm wondering what your area of expertise is.

Earlier, you used the word "can't", instead of "don't" (or vice versa) in one of your posts, and it impressed me for some reason.

He wants you to either:

A. Say you're not an expert, in which case he will dismiss everything you say

B. Say you are an expert, in which case he will call you an insulting name while decrying higher education, and then dismiss everything you say

Provide links to their scientific achievements and peer-reviewed articles.
Can't you be an expert without all that documentation?

Or do we live in a technocracy run by the Gestapo?

... you really dont understand science and what it means to be an expert.
I understand that apparently you think we can't have experts outside of science.

It's "Godwin," and if the shoe fits, let science wear it.

It's sad that someone can't claim to be an expert on something without someone else coming along and saying, "Show me your papers."
