CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's face value, not circular reasoning. It is stated like that throughout the gospels and even back in the old testament. If I say The Shining was written by Stephen King because it says it was, am I lying? Using circular reasoning? Or simply trusting in the authors claim?
So these books (the bible) were all written by unknown authors, from various professions and vastly different time periods and all state something similar. If they are not true and made up I wonder why that is?

I would recommend this in regards to the book you revere.
Take some time and do some reading from various biblical scholars and historians, specifically regarding the NT. Don't just choose one scholar who may be very conservative or very liberal, but choose from a variety.
It always amazes me how little so many christians actually know about the historicity of the NT and I'm sure you would welcome the opportunity to learn from those who have studied this topic as their life's profession.

I'd rather trust God than some person's opinions who were not even there to see the pages written.
By the way, I have studied the historicity of the NT. It has stood the test of time and exact copying more so than any other written documents in history. (That is based on evidence, not opinion).
