It was slithering on its belly,
Figuring out how to make it end,
Dropping coins out for a beggar,
One that it could befriend,
Following me in confusion,
Until I'm skeletal remains of sin,
Whisper insincere conclusions,
Until my outside burns within.
See my shadow shifting,
Stretching up and over me,
Tempt the chalice and golden armor,
Yet, I stand by God almighty,
It takes love to take a single step,
And God's blessing for the spiritual breath,
You can hurt me until I am nothing left,
Unwavering I remain by the side of the best.
