Hi there!

Okay, so God creates apes in Genesis 1, all having the same DNA.

Then, when He creates man, He creates man with almost the same DNA, but a percentage (2%?) of it is different.

After all, His goal is to create man in His image & likeness.

Show how this is deceptive.

Your assertion that apes have "the same DNA" is deceptive.... because they don't.

I say deceptive rather than mistaken because you are aware of this fact yet still post it.

It is "deceptive" only if you try to leave God out of the equation.
In other words, it's not deceptive if you put God into the equation: which Genesis 1 does.

So God creating mankind apart from apekind is not deceptive?

I think you know what I'm saying though.

It may not be letter perfect, but close enough.

Absolutely not.

I served 20 years after college as a tool and die design engineer. As such, I developed many signature designs for building blocks of dies, jigs, fixtures, etc. that were almost exactly the same across the board, but modified slightly for the specifics of what end product I was designing for.

98% the same, 2% different sounds about right for somewhat similar end products.

Brass (copper & zinc) and bronze (copper & tin) are also two completely differently metals; but you don't see metallurgists saying one comes from the other.

Amazing - that is exactly what DNA is like!

All it shows is a common designer. Then add soul and spirit for more differences.
So this common designer...

Odd that the DNA of whales is more 'similar' to that of hippos than it is to sharks.

Don't you think?

Not really. Whales and hippos are both mammals, breathe air and nurse their young. Sharks breathe water and do not nurse.

You myth Genesis 1, and you'll myth a lot.
Yes av, it's a myth, and should be looked at as such. I mean, look at how pathetic it looks, trying to somehow incorporate modern technology and DNA analysis as having some relevance to an ancient creation myth. SMH.

I disagree.

I think DNA should show that we are not the same as apes -- on the molecular level, that is.

I think it's obvious that we are not the same as apes.

For one thing, they have more hair on them.

But on the molecular level, we come very close -- but no cigar.

Our molecules never touch; and in order to make them touch, scientists have to add their "epicycles" to the pot in the form of some "common ancestor."

Ptolemy lives again!
