I.i.r.c. the difference is more than 2%
Okay. I'm not really sure what it is. I've heard 2% a lot. But I've heard other numbers as well.

I don't think scientists know (or care) what it is.

They were claiming we came from apes well before DNA was discovered.
Hieronymus said:
Either way, the differences are obviously essential and can't be explained by selected random mutations, "they" just say it is so.
Yup.

Just like Ptolemy used epicycles to explain geocentrism.

They that don't know the past are condemned to repeat it -- unless they are scientists, then they repeat it anyway until they get it wrong enough to convince the public they're right.

Assuming your figures are true, when God breathes His breath into man, that (perceived) 2% difference becomes an incalculable infinity.
But what about BEFORE He breathed His breath into man (not sure why you used a present tense verb)?

Was Adam an ape?

Or were apes created ex nihilo, and man created ex materia (from the dust of the ground)?

2% (it's actually 4%) means about 60,000,000 bases difference (2% from 3 bilion bases). human also share about 50% with banana and about 90% with a rat. also: according to evolution some of the most similar creatures arent related at all:

so even according to evolution similarity isn't necessarily point to a common descent. actually many cars are very similar to each other. it doesn't prove any common descent. even if cars were able to reproduce.

Hi there!

Okay, so God creates apes in Genesis 1, all having the same DNA.
XD I would hope they would at least have enough genetic variation for there to be males and females.

Then, when He creates man, He creates man with almost the same DNA, but a percentage (2%?) of it is different.

After all, His goal is to create man in His image & likeness.

Show how this is deceptive.
I wouldn't call it deceptive as much as an unnecessary degree of similarity. It would have been easier to not make humans so genetically similar to other apes than it would have been to do so (though, I guess for an omnipotent, omniscient deity, the effort would be essentially equal).

If a deity wanted humans to stand out from all other organisms, it would have been very easy to do this while working with the same genetic material (DNA) as with other organisms. DNA codons are extremely redundant, so there is no need for large numbers of them in a row to match up with other organisms.

Also, the percentage of difference between humans and chimps depends on whether or not you are including all 3 billion base pairs in each one, or just the ones that are a part of genes. The 2% comes from just comparing genes alone.

If I remember Kent Hovind correctly, he says we're closer to a tobacco plant more than anything.

Is that true?
