I got a tattoo on my lower leg for my 41st B-day. My husband told our pastor it was a mid-life crisis!!! RRRRR it is not, I love the design and did not appreciate his opinion.

Well, now you know what you can blame it on if he does something 'unusual' so to speak!! Men usually do stuff like buy cars of motorcycles!!^_^

Yeah it hurt but I love the design so it was worth it. I am so glad that tattoos no longer carry the negitive conitations that they used to be associated with. Seems these days nearly every one has one and no one thinks of the previous bad associations they used to carry.

Sounds like he was embarrassed.

Comments from our spouses can sting.
Yeah, people who love us, know right where our buttons are, don't they?

If you're fortunate, you're married to someone who doesn't push them in public. I'm fortunate that way. According to you, you're not. But, then, you just showed your husband in a bad light, to all of us on the internet. So, I guess in your relationship, this sort of thing goes both ways. (just something to think about)

They don't? :D

I don't believe that christians should have tatoos because of what the Bible says about it. And I know I'm not the only one that feels that way for that reason.

And I think that the type of people who have tatoos tend to be making a statement, that statement being "I don't care what you think". Rebellion.

I also think people who have tatoos tend to be of a lower class.

I don't know you. You may be none of these things. I have only what you say, to discern who you are. And that's how I feel, and have felt about tatoos for a long time.

And, although a lot of people will be nice about it to your face, say "Oooh, ah, isn't that pretty?"... and agree with you that your husband is a bad man for what he said. Maybe you need to be open to the fact, that that may not be what they're thinking.

Because what people think about tatoos, hasn't really changed that much, as you would like to believe. The world has just become very worldly....including the Christian community, of late. And that's what you see.

What I really think? I don't really care about you getting a tatoo for your birthday. Happy birthday by the way. But, I really think You should talk to your husband and tell him that what he said hurt your feelings. Instead of talking to us about it. Maybe it won't become his favorite catch phrase, if you do. ;)

I have a small rose tattoo on my left ankle. It really hurt when I got it. I got it when I was in my 30's. It is small, cute and in a spot where the skin won't sag.

I bought drums for my 40th birthday. My best friends husband bought a BMW convertable, took the family bungee jumping over the Grand Canyon and bought kayacks and a motorcycle. My friend told her hubby that he could buy whatever he wanted....as long as he didn't come home with a young blonde. :D

A little tattoo is not a mid life crisis. Enjoy your tattoo. It sounds really cute.

Thanks for the reminder about sunscreen, I live in a very sunny state and sunblock is a must!

Everyone I talked to before hand assured me that once you get one it's hard not to get another, kind of like potato chips...but once was enough, it did hurt.

DH says he is considering getting one as well but is not sure if he wants a similar design or something different. We did the motorcycle thing before we had kids, have hiked and bungeed and done many other so called "mid-life crisis" stuff when we were younger...

I agree with whomever it was who suggested that as long as neither of us come home with a 20 year old blond we can weather any other kind of crisis together.

BTW, his remark about my tat being a mid-life crisis was said in jest, guess I did not phrase it well. He likes my design and approved of it well before I got it done.
