People don't want to hear the truth when it tells them they are wrong. So they try to say that it is no longer the truth because it is insulting to them. Well guess what it didn't stop being the truth and it won't stop being the truth. Everyone on these threads implies that my beliefs are false when they disagree. Is implying that you are wrong not simply a more tactful way of still saying you are wrong? So how come it is when my beliefs don't line up with the official beliefs of this site it is ok to attack them but when I attack the official beliefs here I am accused of doing wrong. Everyone else is doing it but I am called the bad guy. It really is sad being as my beliefs are in the Bible and yours are not.

Here is the truth....

Isaiah 44:24:
Thus said the LORD, your redeemer, and he that formed you from the womb, I am the LORD that makes all things; that stretches forth the heavens alone; that spreads abroad the earth by myself;

There is only one God he does things by himself and alone. There is no body else with him no other person in his Godhead. You misunderstand Jesus statements if you believe that he is a different person than the Father. For there is no God but the father. So if Jesus makes a statement that he was with God or that he was God or that he is God. He is saying that he is the Father. Period

For those that think there are persons with him I submit to you the same scripture as brother Job did to his accusers.

Job 13:1-10
See, my eye has seen all this, my ear has HEARD and UNDERSTOOD it. What you know, the same do I know also: I am not inferior to you. Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God. But you are forgers of lies, you are all physicians of no value. O that you would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom. Hear now my reasoning, and listen to the pleadings of my lips. Will you speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him? WILL YOU ACCEPT HIS PERSON? will you contend for God? Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocks another, do you so mock him? HE WILL SURELY REPROVE YOU, if you do SECRETLY ACCEPT PERSONS.

That is what the bible says either you believe the Bible or you believe your own philosophy. I believe the Bible.

The problem is that what starts as discussion turns in to finger pointing. Instead of saying I don't agree with you or I agree with you it turns into a brawl to see who has the most support .
"show me proof" is often thrown up in a members face and then when they post what they feel is proof they are belittled and their proof is belittled because the responder doesn't really want to hear or see anyone elses thoughts that are in agreement they just want to be somehow better than the writter.:cry:
"PROOF" there is none just others opinions.Early church Heirarchy and all Jewish scholars language experts. ETC. The only proof there is ,is our Faith in GOD and his SON and what we believe to be true. That is why it is called FAITH. We have Faith that we are right. I am a Jehovah's Witness and I believe they are right others are Catholic and they believe they are right Baptists, Lutherans, Unitatians, LDS ETC..
Jesus ALWAYS taught with a quiet and mild spirit.He put it in front of you and you make the choice either to accept or reject. That is all anyone has to do here. There are teachings that I reject because I don't believe they come from Jesus and God's word. My understanding not yours MY faith not Yours.Each one has to make HIS own accounting before GOD.
I'll shut up now "May Your Shoes Always Follow Happy Trails" TB:hug: :wave:

Hi there!

:wave:

" It really is sad being as my beliefs are in the Bible and yours are not."

I believe every word of the Bible to be truth.

Are you aware that when you read "I am the LORD" that the term "LORD" is Jehovah? And who is Jehovah in the Old Testament?

Jesus Christ.

So what is your point? That Jesus Christ and God the Father are one.

okay. We're on the same boat.

I just thought it was very interesting that the "unorthodox" beliefs are allowed to be belittled but the "orthodox" are not. Seems like hypocrisy to me.
"Unorthodox beliefs" can be anything - from allowing electric guitars in worship, to heterodoxies (heresies) like Jesus being a UFO driver, an ascended master, or not being the second person of the trinity.
In 1 Kings 18:27 we read that Elijah mocked the false prophets of baal, ridiculing them and their gods to the point of literally using "bathroom" humor. Mere hours away from God's divine judgement and their resulting executions, Elijah was not "gentle and kind" with them.

In verse 21, the people of Israel (and presumably the false prophets) were given a chance to repent. The people were silent in verse 21. The prophets were not. They escalated their blasphemies and heresies until at the height of the day, the prophets were to the point of shouting (v28a), publically commiting occultic rituals (v28b), literally "raving" (v29) in front of all the people of Israel (who remained noncommital through it all).

It was the open practicioners and promoters of ungodliness whom Elijah was mocking. How can we say Elijah responded hypocritically to such displays of flagrant, open rebellion against God?

You missed my point entirely.

II Timothy 2:25:
In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

Since you care so much for my well being and you obey what you are to do now how about you obey this verse.

So then, you're saying Elijah was disobedient to God in 1 Kings? Or that I'm disobedient? Did God's behavioral standards change between the Old Testament and the New?

Nope God's standards are the same. But ours are supposed to be higher now. By the way if you are attacking someone who is telling you the truth for your benefit, then you are worse than disobedient you are rebellious.

I tell you the truth.

That's your opinion. There is nothing unreasonable about seeing a profound change in the types of Gods found in the OT and the NT. It is theology that reconciles this apparent conflict, not reason. And THAT is the truth.

theology doesn't do a thing and that is TRUTH.

II Timothy 3:7:
Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

That is what the bible says. You can study for years and not learn a thing. Or God can tell you and you will know it all.
