  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I love to crochet and am always posting pics here and there of completed projects so I've decided to start a thread where I can post them all in one place.

I'll start out with this one.

I'm not very good with thread but my Christmas ornaments do turn out nicely. This is the bell. The gold thread has become very difficult to find. I finally had to buy it on ebay. I'd like to get some more of these finished to put in the church craft sale.

This Prairie Star afghan was a lot of fun but I've only made one. This is one of the few projects that I've actually kept for myself. I love the color combination on this. The only bad thing about it was all the ends to work in.

This is a baby poncho. I'll be donating it to our church craft sale in October. I'd like to make some more as it was so easy but I'm afraid to make too many before I know if they will sell.

It is made with baby yarn and trimmed in a very soft, fluffy, white terri yarn.

This flag afghan is one of my favorites. I have made 4 of them. All four have been donated to charity sales. I may eventually make one for myself. ;) But I doubt it.

I no longer make all the star motifs and then sew them together. I now crochet each motif into the star field as I go which is much more enjoyable for me because I have never liked to sew.

This is a little purse I made. It's finished but I do think that I want to add some type of closure to it.

I crocheted the body of the purse holding two different colors of yarn together which I don't think you can tell by the picture. I used a coordinating varigated yarn for the strap and cuff.

This is a project that was very easy but I'm not real happy with it. Although I followed the pattern the corner goes off to the left a bit.

The star of this poncho is the yarn I used for the border.

Very cool. My grandmother tried to teach me to crochet when I was little. I wish I'd paid more attention. I'd love to be able to sit down and relax with a project in my lap...all my quilting is done on the machine...fun, but not exactly quiet and relaxing. :)

Awesome projects...you're really talented. :) I love the cute little ponchos.

I decided to post a picture of one of my very first projects. It was a rather courageous attempt for such an inexperienced crocheter but it turned out very well.

I've folded it up like this because one end of it has been unraveled. I was so proud of this that I stored it away for safe keeping and a mouse ended up chewing up a good bit of it. I couldn't just throw it away so I removed the damaged part. It was damaged on the starting end so I don't know how to fix it.

I still love the combination of greens!

So far my favorite is the flag Barb. That turned out great! They all did.

I have a picture of myself when I was a little girl in a little poncho my mom made me. I'll have to find it and post it in here. :D She still crochets all the time...just made a ton of slippers for everyone. I'll take a pic of them too and post it.

Now, I'm going to sign out here and go do some crocheting. ;)

Me too...I like the purse too:)

Thanks! The purse was fun to make. I do need to look for some type of button closure for it. The pattern didn't call for one but I think it does need one.

I've just purchased a new afghan pattern and really want to get started on it! ^_^

I like the Prairie Star afghan, but of course you're right the green ripple afghan is awesome! :D
I have a project lined up...I just need to get the order in the mail.

Good luck with it! You are ordering your yarn? Is it less expensive that way?

I bought a pattern today for an afghan I've really been wanting to try. I want to start it but feel guilty about starting a new project when I have a few already started. :sigh:

It isn't really any cheaper...what with shipping and handling, etc. But it seems to be the only way I'm going to get all the colours I need. Michael's only stocks a few colours and I haven't been able to find any other store that carries that particular yarn.

Tee hee...I know all about wanting to jump on a new project when I've not finished others yet. I just tell myself the reason I've got so many on the go is so that I don't get tired of any one particular project! ;) :D

You're absolutely right! I think that I'll start the new afghan when I get this poncho finished.

I want to get the ladies of my church who crochet to make a granny square and give it to me. I will stictch each square together to make an afghan. The afghan will then be auctioned as a fund raiser. I'd like to have a warm and friendly name for the afghan. I've thought of:
Heart of Family Afghan
Pieces of Our Heart Afghan

What do you all think? Or do you have a suggestion?
