I believe homosexuality is an acquired taste created in the mind from any possible number of sources from sexual abuse as a child to simple misunderstandings and interpretation of what a child sees at a very early age.

As a gay man I can tell you that you're wrong. Being gay is not an "acquired taste" and has nothing to do with being abused.

I have old dictionaries at home. You know, the printed kind. Comes in handy for stuff like this. :)

Do you also have one of those books that explain how to treat diseases with leeches?
Maybe you should update your knowledge a little bit with material from this day and age.

Matthew 8:12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

I'm bothered by the fact you think it's ok to throw children into "outer darkness."

My concern with religion is that it allows us by the millions to believe what only lunatics or idiots could believe on their own. That's not to say that all religious people are lunatics or idiots. It's anything but that.

Depends on the man. I knew several homosexual men and women when I lived in Seattle. Because I take people one at a time, I was friends of a sort with many of them and we talked about our childhoods. Well, those with whom I had this relationship with...

And every single one, to a man and women, had trauma happen in their family life at a very young age. Some were more severe than others, but there was most definitely a common thread.

However, I think this is true of a lot of folks that never became homosexual as well, just as not all of us turn to Christ, not all of us find our sexuality "flipped" over things that happen to us before we are old enough to interpret the events correctly. Some simply become afraid of sex, or become pedophiles, or hate the opposite sex, while not clinging to our own sex, etc. Homosexuality is just one outcome. But it is, by definition, a perversion of sex, for obvious reasons.

Ah, Modern Times! Yes. "Modern times" gave us eugenics, lobotomies and all sorts of other scary stuff. Medical science does progress, but from time to time it slides into temporary lunacy, as is the case today with "born homosexual". There is zero proof for it. The gene is still being sought.

And remember, "Modern Times" become's the future's past of a few crackpot theories that used to be believed. Like leech treatments. :)

I think you derailed this thread enough so I'm just gonna leave you to it. Also the mods usually turn into the inquisition when the topic of homosexuality comes up so better be safe than sorry.

Please no! Can't think of anything worse than weeping and gnashing teeth...

I'm saying the left does it a lot more. It's their MO. But to be fair, the left is younger. People tend to move to the right as they mature. Not all, of course. Those are the gray ponytails, but a lot of them do.

So I expect more "immature debate tactics" from the left simply because they are less experienced. Less mature. (generally speaking)
In your opinion, I'm sure.

I've put in for thread closure. The thread has taken a turn for the worse.

Weeping and gnashing of teeth is the response (intense sadness and anger) to the situation, not the situation itself.

Goes without saying. But also, in my experience. ;)

Like I said, when a site stops allowing ad-hominem attacks, and one or two conservatives get banned, and a LOT of the liberals get banned, well, there's a story there. :)

Maybe your next "challenge" thread should be "guess how many challenge thread have closed."

I'm not sure how your typing "liberals" and "conservatives." The subjects here are science and theology, not politics.
