I disagree. What's funny is that, when discussing science and the scientific method, I will include the dictionary definition of the word, "Science", and people will still argue I don't understand it.

Honestly, it's not complicated. It's just science and, truth be told, most of the actual, in the trenches activities involved in science are incredibly boring.

Yes, I had a knack for Science in high school and college, but ended it with my last chemistry class. I found out it doesn't pay well enough. I have worked with two former chemists in IT. Both of them went into IT because of pay.

But I still pursue as a hobby. The most fun part is catching
lower tier "scientists" trying to pull the wool over the eyes of lay-people with jargon.

HA! I don't trust them to the point that six years ago I left my 46 year home, Seattle, for 32 acres in rural KY. It is a spectacular life style, and when (not if) the SHTF, I can self sustain there quite easily. It's not a guarantee, but it's certainly more of a fighting chance, and if it doesn't happen in my lifetime, it is a spectacularly peaceful and productively relaxing lifestyle.

I envy you, friend; I wish I could afford the same luxury.

I left the R party about 14 years ago. Politics is just something I like to watch for comic relief.

I can laugh at the politicians up to a point, but it's hard to laugh at the circus when the elephants start stampeding.

Just so you know, it's a LOT cheaper, and my property taxes on an 8 year old home on 32 acres including 60x40 barn, two streams and lots of harvestable lumber is the same as one month's car payment. Annually.

I can retire here on Social Security alone.

I believe it -- but I'm nowhere near retirement age yet, and I enjoy teaching to the point where I'll probably keep doing it from an iron lung if need be...

Besides, I'm a city boy; all that peace and quiet will probably make me chew off my own foot.

I'm sort of the same way. I'm 64 but don't plan on retiring any time soon. The first thing most men do when they retire is die.

Ad-hominem is more a tool of the left. I should know. I've been arguing with the left on the internet since the turn of the century.

In fact, one site stopped allowing ad-hominem and a funny thing happened. A lot of the members of the left got temp-banned, and finally "perma-banned". They just couldn't stop. To be fair, one conservative guy got it too, but he was pretty young.
