Yes they do. There is actually a name for it. gender dysphoria.

Yet it still isn't a brain defect. It is currently unclear what causes gender dysphoria.
If you have a Y cromosome, you are a man, regardless of what you "think" you are. On a side, but relevant point: You are not Napoleon, even if you think you are. He's dead, Jim.

This is not complicated. People are, for some unknown reason, trying to make it so.

I hope you are aware that there is a difference between sex and gender? It's not as easy as you make it out to be.

According to the Bible, we are going to get a new name in Heaven.

Imagine Caitlyn Jenner dying and going to Heaven to spend all eternity there, and getting the name "Tom"?

I'll bet Jenner is going to be one upset ... person.

Don't worry about that. She'll probably hang out with the cool guys down in hell where it's warm and cozy.

Ad-hominem is more a tool of the left. I should know. I've been arguing with the left on the internet since the turn of the century.

In fact, one site stopped allowing ad-hominem and a funny thing happened. A lot of the members of the left got temp-banned, and finally "perma-banned". They just couldn't stop. To be fair, one conservative guy got it too, but he was pretty young.

Pointing out how silly a post is is not a ad-hominem.

Also, dragging politics into a thread on a science forum is beyond silly.

Maybe God will reward Jenner for being true to himself ...

I'm sort of the same way. I'm 64 but don't plan on retiring any time soon. The first thing most men do when they retire is die.
That’s because you got to find something to do besides sit around waiting to die.

I'd be more concerned about the "idolaters" bit if I were you.

I may not know it empirically, but I know it by faith.

What more do I need?

I too will be in aitch one day, and I'm looking forward to it.

You might not be, you might have misinterpreted the particular worship rules that god demands, he's very picky you know. If Jehovah's Witnesses have got it right, and they've studied the bible for ages, you are doomed. Don't be over confident, god might not like that either!

Are you saying only those on the "left" are culpable in ad-hom attacks?
I'm saying the left does it a lot more. It's their MO. But to be fair, the left is younger. People tend to move to the right as they mature. Not all, of course. Those are the gray ponytails, but a lot of them do.

So I expect more "immature debate tactics" from the left simply because they are less experienced. Less mature. (generally speaking)

I agree. I would call it more of a mind defect than a brain defect. It's only a brain defect if you are born that way. I believe homosexuality is an acquired taste created in the mind from any possible number of sources from sexual abuse as a child to simple misunderstandings and interpretation of what a child sees at a very early age.
I hope you are aware that there is a difference between sex and gender? It's not as easy as you make it out to be.
No there isn't. There is a movement to redefine the word "gender" to make them different, but that is just the sort of stuff the Orwellians are doing a lot these days. I have old dictionaries at home. You know, the printed kind. Comes in handy for stuff like this. :)

Unlike us lefties I find the "right" tend more towards negative stereotyping and making sweeping generalizations.

It would be, if scientists did not drag politics into their "science". e.g. what on earth do Algore and Bill Nye know about climate? What is their function? ;)

I always find it a bit curious when people who usually insist on the great significance and superiority of the spirit/soul/... aspect, suddenly argue the other way round.
It was an answer to an hypothetical that I don't expect to come to pass.

i.e. it was a joke. ;)

And here's another fun one: When Captain Kirk and the away team are beamed down to another planet, what actually happens is they are all cut into tiny, tiny pieces and those pieces are re-assembled on the planet. i.e. they are killed and cut up, but the pieces are put back together, meaning what you get on the planet's surface is a dead person.

But it, too, is just an hypothetical. :)

Concerned laymen with media access.

But why do you seem to be linking politics with science and theology? There is nothing intrinsically "right" or "left" about the Christian faith, certainly nothing that would require a Christian to take any particular position on AGW. Nor is there anything about the theory of evolution which would require a person who accepted it to take up any particular position on the right or left of politics.

I'm of course speaking in accurate generalities like, generally speaking, men are taller than women. At the end of the day, all people are individuals to me.

I don't. I only respond to when others do.

Science is about how. Religion is about why. Politics is about one of the major physical influences on my quality of life, sadly. Used to be, at least in the US, that the only contact the average person had with the federal government was the mail man.
