so, not going to do the video game example with me, AV? I'm a tad disappointed in your lack of wanting to defend your assertion that being ignorant of the subject matter related to the opposing side can benefit someone in a debate.
Sorry, Sarah, I'm in a bit of a hurry right now.

How well is science doing it for you?

It's done a good job of showing that nothing should be taken as inerrant... everything should be put to the test.

No argument there.

Until, of course, it concludes the Bible is errant, then it goes too far.

That defeats the whole purpose, doesn't it?

"The Bible should be put to the test... but not if it's going to fail"?

It depends on who's grading the papers.

Some would fail the Bible because It says Jesus walked on water.

Others would fail the Bible because It says Jesus walked.

And you so want it to be you...

Some would fail the Bible because It says Jesus walked on water.

Others would fail the Bible because It says Jesus walked.

Well, it would depend on the subject, now wouldn't it?

In a literature/mythology class, the Bible gets passing marks.

In a history class, well... some books fare better than others, but I'll give it a "gentleman's C."

In a science class.... well, there's always summer school.

Just like It does here in Creation & Evolution, with scientific methodists grading It?

Obviously you're discussing a far different "here."

I don't fail it with either of those. I fail it in how it thinks that breeding goats in front of branches can make their offspring striped.

If you were to ask Jacob how it happened, I'm sure he would tell you: GOD DID IT.

In fact, here are his very words to his wives ...

Genesis 31:9 Thus God hath taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me.

Yeah, but the bible specifically says the way HE [Jacob] made them striped was through the breeding method, not because god made it so. God just made sure Jacob got the cattle (even though he kinda didn't deserve them, due to his trickery. Seriously, why is the guy that lied to Isaac to get a blessing, and purposely bred cattle to swindle his uncle, favored by a deity that is supposed to be good?). And if you bring up the whole Leah thing and how his uncle tricked him into having sex with her, I just have to say, it's one of those funny bible stories where a guy's trickery is returned unto him.

So?

Did the walls of Jericho fall because they marched around them, or because GOD DID IT?

Wouldn't shock me if the bible said both, but you are avoiding the previous biblical statement.
(v. 37) Jacob, however, took fresh-cut branches from poplar, almond and plane trees and made white stripes on them by peeling the bark and exposing the white inner wood of the branches.

(v. 38) Then he placed the peeled branches in all the watering troughs, so that they would be directly in front of the flocks when they came to drink. When the flocks were in heat and came to drink,

(v. 39) they mated in front of the branches. And they bore young that were streaked or speckled or spotted.

(v. 40) Jacob set apart the young of the flock by themselves, but made the rest face the streaked and dark-colored animals that belonged to Laban. Thus he made separate flocks for himself and did not put them with Laban's animals.

(v. 41) Whenever the stronger females were in heat, Jacob would place the branches in the troughs in front of the animals so they would mate near the branches,

(v. 42) but if the animals were weak, he would not place them there. So the weak animals went to Laban and the strong ones to Jacob.

What does the bible say, AV? Does it say god made the animals have patterns, or does it say the way Jacob bred them caused it? Well?

Who's to say they literally "fell"? Wartime propaganda is full of hyperbole, for obvious reasons.

We know the Israelites got in, and, lacking seige engines or the time to wait and starve them out, there's only one way an all-infantry force is going to get into a walled city.

The Israelites had the means... it was all neatly spelled out in the story.

I would label that as the model of deistic creation, where God creates a primordial atom, then retreats into the background and lets nature do its thing.
Replace the word God with either the word Shamdu, FuFu or JuJu and you could be onto something.
