You couldn't afford it anyway.

Isaiah 55:1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

Salvation is free to us, but cost Jesus dearly.

You're not peddling salvation -- do you think I or anyone else would ever mistake you for someone who was?

It was posted to show that, until 1875, wine could be either fermented (wine) or unfermented (grape juice).
That's not what it shows. Your link shows that until 1875 there was no such thing as unfermented wine.

Therefore according to the link you posted showing that unfermented wine did not exist until 1875, the wine referred to in the Bible was fermented and consequently alcoholic.

Two things, guys:

1. Jesus turned water into grape juice.
2. Drinking is a sin.

If you disagree, that's your prerogative.

But if you want to me to disagree too, qv my mood please.

So when the bible says wine it doesn't mean wine?

Is your mood no longer a King James Onlyist? Because you have posted several things in this thread that disagree with the King James Version of the Bible.

You? Queller? Valentine? 19 others?

YOU AV. You posted a source that said unfermented grape juice didn't exist until the mid 1800s.....and you're trying to argue that it did exist 2000 years ago......and that the bible is wrong about the wine because...... Are you saying that Jesus was Thomas Welch? I don't even know what's happening anymore.

Why don't you guys read what I wrote again please?

For nine years, all I do is post you guys' comments who disagree with me.

Going outside of CF to post a link to an article that does the same thing surely isn't going to faze me in the least.

Especially if, embedded in that article, is a point that is agreeing with something I'm saying.

In fact, it's against the law to drink, if you are under 21.

In another fact, it's against the law to sell alcohol to anyone under 21.

That depends entirely on the jurisdiction you're in because the laws and attitudes concerning alcohol vary significantly. I've spent a few weeks in China every summer since I was ten, and due to the unsanitary conditions of the water in many areas beer is the far safer choice so I've been served it without hesitation. China is notorious for their horrendous air pollution but their abysmal water quality is as significant of a problem if not more so. In more sophisticated areas you can get bottled water or cold soda in restaurants, but in the rural regions there were usually less options. Drinking the tap water as a foreigner would be like self-sabotage. We were volunteering in some very rural regions in the far north a few hours outside of Harbin, and especially in the years of the floods alcohol was the sanest option. You just drink it sensibly and with moderation. I always had it with food and just a small amount. It's way too filling to have with a meal and drink a lot of it. I don't understand how people guzzle it while also eating without feeling stuffed.
In many other countries I've been served and nobody has blinked an eye. Part of it again has to do with bottled alcohol being safer than water. I don't feel like drinking alcohol is a sin so long as it is consumed responsibly and in moderation. Anything can be harmful depending on the quantity consumed. A Boston Marathon runner died in 2002 from drinking too much water.

That pure water wasn't safe to drink, so any sane person before water filtration would drink very watered down alcoholic beverages to keep from becoming ill.

You hit the nail on the head.

If you guys want to justify drinking, that's your prerogative.

If you guys want to justify Jesus creating alcoholic wine, that's your prerogative.

Just don't think for one minute I'm going to buy it.

Do you also avoid all products containing alcohol? Many medicines and even mouthwashes contain it.

I think it would be an act of providence to give wine considering the time period. It's not like they could just meander to the grocery store and buy grape juice off the shelf or get a bottle of water from a vending machine. Wine would have been safer. Plus wine (especially red wine) has health benefits. Red Wine

If China can grow grapes to make wine, China can grow grapes to make grape juice.
Wine would have been safer.
Of course it would.

If they kept the water polluted on purpose, then they could make a killing off selling wine.

Is smoking marijuana a sin?

It can kill you, you know.

2 Kings 4:40b O thou man of God, there is death in the pot.

...is that a joke? I really don't know if this is a joke or not.

1) In jurisdictions where marijuana is legal no it is not a sin to smoke it.

2) No, marijuana can't kill you; though the inhalation of any combustible material is bad for you and carcinogenic.

3) No sane person would believe 2 Kings 4:40 is talking about marijuana--to which I repeat: Is this a joke?
