• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Next I'll bet you'll say the Canary Islands were name after dogs!

Or Panama hats are from Ecuador!

Or a ten-gallon hat holds two gallons!

Lets go back to this again, just for fun

"Although the history of Coney Island's name and its anglicization can be traced through historical maps spanning the 17th century to the present,[11] and all the names translate to Rabbit Island in modern English, there are still those who contend that the name derives from other sources. Possible alternatives include the Irish Gaelic name for Rabbit which is Coinín, which is also anglicized to Coney. Ireland has many islands named Coney Island, all of which predate this one. Some claim that an Irish captain named Peter O'Connor named Coney Island in the 18th century, after an island in Sligo Bay known as both Coney Island and Inishmulclohy. Another purported origin is from the name of the Indian tribe, the Konoh, who supposedly once inhabited it. A further claim is that the island is named after Henry Hudson's right-hand-man, John Coleman, supposed to have been slain by Indians"

You're right, its not. Its not talking about rabbits, as has been shown. In living color.

Welp, its time for this again

^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^

Its precious, because you think anyone in this thread has done anything at all to show that Coney does not mean Rabbit or that that Rabbit is not exactly what the writers of the KJB meant.

Well, since AV and a few others seem to insist on playing silly little words games, I'll ask instead if hares chew the cud.

And grow up and get over yourselves. You know exactly what I was asking and you deliberately muddy the water with inane wordplay.

You would have to look at the original language, and also the animals that lived in the area where it was written. PROTIP: that wasn't England. The research to do all that has been posted for you in this thread, and you'd still prefer to stay ignorant.

As you wish.

The people who wrote the KJB were English. Coney was not an unknown word. Its not some "mystery." It is as well understood as the word "Sunday." It means rabbit.
This is not actually up to a debate.
Which brings up the word "easter"

KJV Search Results for "easter"

KJV]Act 12:4
And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him;
intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

NKJV] Act 12:4
So when he had arrested him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four squads of soldiers to keep him, intending to bring him before the people after Passover.

My Easter crew is in the process of developing a cannon that will be able to launch different colored easter eggs on Easter Sunday.

Not at all. Your quest is folly. Or to be more accurate - anachronism.

In arguing with AV about Rabbits and his KJV fetishism, I've had to accept that he will refuse to acknowledge any other option that Coney.

I'm with the NIV crowd that says it was a Hyrax.

Just as I said when I said this

The NIV writers do not disagree with the meaning of 'coney', the NIV writers disagree that 'coney' is an accurate translation of the hebrew. They correctly translate it to "hyrax" a creature that is native to that area of the middle east.

Care to elaborate on this?

Sure. In the physical world, evidence can usually be cross-referenced, examined, and verified by multiple people. In the spiritual world, that's usually not the case, since most spiritual experiences are only experienced by the individual and are not repeatable or demonstrable to others. So the scientific method isn't reliable for analyzing the spiritual world.

Rabbits don't chew cud, no, I mean really, you can observe the fact that they don't. Also, there is another place in the bible which states camels don't have split hoofs, and all you need to do is look at camel hoofs to see this is incorrect.

Umm...rabbits do eat their droppings for more nutrients. I believe they have two stomachs as well. So technically they do chew their cud.

Camels don't have split hooves. In fact they have split toes and no hoofs at all. Did you really look at a camels feet?

I brought that up on this post :)

Owners can rarely see their bunnies’ cecotropes (and him eating it) as it occurs usually at night while most of us are in dreamland.

So the next time you see your rabbits eating their own poop, he is just making sure that he gets all the nutrients he need.
