Caught slightly off-guard, "Oh, uhm ok." Regaining her equilibrium she smiled, "Well thanks for your help Drew. I really appreciate it." With another quick glance around her room, "Guess I should unpack. Then I'll go explore, see who else I meet."

Her eyes appeared to flicker briefly. Normal one moment and then, for just an instant, showing a vertical slit pupil as she registered, and committed to memory, Drew's heat signature.

Smiling, "Ya, I'll see ya around."

As Kyler walked down the side walk with the rest of the group, he started rummagging through his pocket to see if he had enought money with him. He felt like three dollars and some change, that should be enough. Kyler wasn't really sure if anyone knew exactly where thay were going. No one was from around here, and they had only been there for a week., but of course he wasn't one to speak up. He continued to walk quietly with his hands deep into his pockets.

Jason continued to sccan the area, looking out for anything suspicious. Somehow he felt repsonsible for the others. They seemed so helpless, and none of them really had a clue. He kept an extra close eye on Cat. He had been talking to her alot. I suppose he could say they were friends. He scared everyone else. Sometimes it seems he even scared CAt, but if he didn't want to be intimidating, then he wouldn't dress the part.
This wasn't the best neighborhood, but Jason had seen worse. Everything seemed pretty calm, for now.

Kyler noticed a carvel coming into view, across the street. "Is that the place?" He asked in a timid voice.

Caitlyn walked up front by Hope, feeling bored and missing her puzzle ring, which she had accidentally thrown across a field the third day at the academy. it had gotten stuck in a tree, to deep to reach, never mind remove.
something looking distinctly ice cream shop-ish was coming into view ahead.
one of the guys behind her said "Is that the place?", sounding rather nervous. come to think of it Flame looked nervous too. when did going out for ice cream become so scary?
"I think so" she answered. "it should be a good enough place anyway."
well they were only a little ways away. surely nothing would happen in the block or so left.

They all entered the carvel and approached the counter. Kyler went first and ordered a small cup of cookies and cream oreo ice cream. then he waited for everyoneelse to et theirs, before he sat down at a table. Then Jason went up behind him and ordered some crazy large doubbl fudge tripple chocolate brownie mix. He noticed a large table that they could all sit at. "We could probably all fit at that big table over their. " he said, then he walked over and sat down, digging into his icecream. He hadn't had icecream in a long time, and this was good. Kyler followed him and sat accrosss from Jason. Soon everyone got their own and joined them at the table one at a time.

Hope couldn't tell if she felt safe or scared with Jason walking next to her. Perhaps both. She did know that she felt a bit of relief knowing that he was looking out for trouble, and she really hoped that was all there was to it. If anything happened, she would feel guilty. She knew what trouble was out here but had agreed that walking would be okay.

She felt better when it was brought to her attention that the ice cream shop was within view and the group started walking closer together as well. Once they all entered the shop, she felt as if a big weight had been lifted from her shoulders. It was a cute atmosphere, not like the streets outside. There were bright colors on the walls and the chairs were various colors. Cheery music was flowing into the shop and there was laughter from the few customers already in the shop. She scanned the flavors and found her favorite kind. After paying and taking her ice cream, she followed the others to the table.

She smiled taking a big bite, "hey, this was a great idea Connor. Thanks for suggesting it, I think this is a treat that all of us could use today."

Drew gave a parting smile and slipped out of the room. He really should be more friendly, but it didn't seem right when it was so forced. It wasn't going to be easy to be the person he used to be, if that would even happen at all. But the first step in trying would be to get revenge, to show those mutants responsible that he wasn't just going to sit around and act like nothing happened. They ruined his life, made it so he couldn't even make friends like he used to.

Flame, he was one of those responsible. Even if not directly, he had been part of a gang and didn't deserve to be in this place. And even right now he was out breaking the rules, breaking the law, and no one was here to do anything about it. These thoughts drove Drew to be more determined to do this despite his previous doubts.

He headed up the stairs and, looking to make sure no one was around, searched for Jason's room even though he was almost positive that he would find it locked. He wasn't sure what he was going to do if he did find it locked. Or, for that matter, if he found it unlocked.

Connor smiled. "Thanks Hope. I'm just glad we were able to lighten the mood here. Everyone was so tense what with all the gang run ins and whatnot. Thanks for coming with us."

Sammy sat down across from Jason. He seemed so conffident and in control of his pwers, she wanted thst too.

"So... Jason... you seem to know what you're doing. Do you think you could maybe help me figure out how to work my power???"

Riabhca watched as Drew left rather abruptly and simply shrugged. One couldn't force someone to social if it was not in their nature.

So turning away, she began the task of unpacking and settling in.

She'd left the door open, hoping someone else was around and would drop in as she was eager to meet and get to know her fellow students.

Jason was somewhat dissipointed when sammy sat across from him. He was hopping that Caitlyn would sit their. but he was somewhat surprised with Sammy's question. their wasn't really any conversation going on about powers. It must have beeen something that was on her mind. he didnb't really feeling like bothering with Sammy right now. It would probably just be easier to blow her off. hopefully, she wasn't one of those pushhy types.

"Yea, I do know what i'm doing. I'm probably the only one. But dont you have professors and stuff to teach you. After all I'm just the criminal stuck in the FBI. which is kinda funny when you think about it."

Jason decided to roll with the conversation. And turn on his smooth charm. "Yea, well, i used to be anenemy of the FBI, but ya know, when they caught me, they just couldn't waist such talent and power. So they made a deal with me, and Here i am." Jason dug into his icecream, hoping it would never run out. "So, you know why i'm here, but your all here willingly. What persuaded you to join the infamous FBI?" Everyone had a reason and Jason was just curious. Kyler decided to answer him first. "Well, I joined cause i needed the money. I'm not all that good at to many things, and the FBI wants something I've got. " Kyler was a little ambarrased to admit that he really needed the money, but that was the truth and he was sure he wasn't the only one. "So, what about you Caitlyn?" Kyler asked. "Yea, Cat why are you here?" Jason addaed, curiously.

Riabhca put the final pieces of clothing away in the appropriate drawers. Dusting her hands off she stood back and did a slow circle, taking in her room in it's unpacked state. Hmm, could use some decorations. Must remember to see what I can find.

She was rather disappointed that no one else had stopped by. But maybe the others were in classes, or out, or something. Riabhca was sure she'd have plenty of time to meet everyone soon enough. She just much prefered an informal meeting to the more formal one she expected out of classes.

Done with her packing, and with nothing else to do, she decided to go exploring. Making sure she took her key and trying to memorize the location of her room, Riabhca set out leisurely down the hallways.

"for the fun of it mostly. I had no other plans really, and they said they'd pay me to come learn to use my 'gifts.' It sounded exciting and I live for excitement."

she tried to make that last sound like a joke. it sounded less stupid that way, though it was for all intents and purposes the truth. she'd always made her decisions primarily on the basis of what seemed most 'fun'; she was pretty sure most of the people here had better reasons than that.
"Sammy? Hope?"

"I was a Criminal Psychology major in college. I guess I've wanted to work for the FBI or something like that for awhile. This opportunity just let me get in faster," she rolled her eyes as she thought about what she just said. "Geez, that makes it sound like I cheated to get in or something. I mean I didn't even know what my powers were before I came here and was never even tempted to find out. Now I'm not even sure how my power would ever be useful. I kinda wonder why the FBI would even want me here." She looked around realizing how serious she had gotten. She smiled and added, "but hey, who cares right? I'm here now so I'm going to make the most of it." Then she took another big bite of her ice cream.

Drew slowly reached out his hand and placed it on the doorknob to Jason's room. He took a deep breath and turned the knob. Of course it was locked. As he looked around the hall, he let out his breath in a long sigh. He thrust his hands into his pockets. As he did so, he felt a paper clip in one pocket. He pulled in out and studied it while turning it around in his fingers. Then he looked at the doorknob. He had never picked a lock before, but he knew a lot about how it worked.

Picking the lock would be worse than walking into an unlocked room, though both were not exactly proper things to be doing. But still, if he could find the proof he was looking for, it would be worth it. And he had come this far, he might as well continue right? No one was around.

He quickly bent one end of the paperclip into a 90 degree angle and pulled out his pocket knife flipping it to the flathead screwdriver. He put his tools into the keyhole and started messing with the internal pins. It was a lot harder than it looked on YouTube. He was concentrating on the lock so much that he forgot to watch out for anyone coming along the hall.

((You can have Riabhca run into him again if you want.))
