actually she was really good. she had always liked competitive sports, though not as much as some of the more dangerous solo sports she had gotten into, and she had the coordination and speed for basketball, if not the height. she nabbed another ball and sunk it.

"Play me? i don't think you could handle it. But i suppose it could be fun." he said jokingly. "How about some one on one"

Connor looked back and forth between the two girls.

"Look... I'm not sure that I can be of any help with these problems, but I do know one thing. Ice cream always helps. We still have one more day of free time, and I saw a really cool ice cream shop not far from here. Either of you interested?? My treat."

Sammy smiled. "Ok. Ice cream sounds good. Thanks." she sniffled. At least her new home was full of friends.

Hope fidgeted in her seat just a little. She wasn't sure if she should scare the two by telling them what the gang members told her. Besides she was probably making more of it that it really was and the guys had probably been bluffing anyway. Still. What if they meant it? Especially what that last guy had said to her.

"I don't know if it's such a good idea to hang around places that are close too the campus. Maybe we can drive over to the other side of town or something."

Icey was new in the school.He overheard Hope saying something about a gang and some other stuff.He was still in his icey form.His icey body was shining in the light.The big crystal of ice on his head that shot up and rounded at a point was very bright.He went over to where Hope and her friends were."I heard your having trouble with some...gang...?You look like you can use someone to keep em away.My names Ice,you can call me Icey or Ice or anything you prefer really."Ice stuck out his hand,which was still covered in ice.

((Umm... Hope really didn't say much about her gang experience... Sammy did...))

Connor scrunched his face in confusion. "Well... I don't have a car... so unless one of you two do we'd have to walk rather far to get to the other side..."

Hope looked up as a new kid approached, but shyed away as he stretched out an icy hand. He wasn't someone she had met before, though she figured there were quite a few people here she hadn't met yet. Still, she was in no mood to be trusting someone new right now, especially when there were no agents around. This guy might be a student, but then again he could just as easily be a gang member who snuck onto campus.

Besides, he knew they were having gang problems so he must have be eavesdropping for quite some time or else had seen her with the gang members outside of campus and knew what was going on. Either way, she didn't like how this guy came over and started acting like he was going to be their own personal guardian.

She was aroused from her thoughts when Connor mentioned not having a car. "That's okay, I'll be happy to drive," she spoke up. "I was only out walking earlier because it was such a nice day." Then she turned her attention to the new guy, "Don't worry about us, we can take care of ourselves."

Connor noticed the new guy and heald out a hand,"Hey... I'm Connor. I understand your concern, but they have me here, so we're fine." He didn't like when people thought he couldn't take care of himself or the people around him.

Sammy thought the other two were being rather harsh. Perhaps this guy was just looking for some friends in the school. Maybe he was new or something. She stuck out her hand and shook his.

"I'm Sammy. It's nice to meet you Ice. Would you like to join us for some ICE cream??" Sammy giggled at her own little pun.

"No, it's ok, I can see your happy with just three.I'll leave you guys alone now."Ice turned around and walked off.

Hope felt bad when the Ice walked away. Obviously she had been wrong about him, if he had wanted to cause trouble with them, he would have persisted more. Now she was pretty certain that he was just a new student and maybe he was trying to meet others so he didn't feel so new. She hoped that she hadn't hurt his feelings by how she acted, she was just feeling very uncomfortable about anyone she didn't know right now, and especially about people who had so much control over their powers. She wondered if she would ever be able to master hers that much or if they would even do any good if she could.

"I'm sorry," Hope called out to Ice when he was a few steps away. "I didn't mean to be so cold .. uhh I mean" she hoped that he didn't think that she was referring to his ability. "I didn't mean cold like literally, I meant like I wasn't very welcoming to you when you came up and ..." she took a deep breath as she realized she was rambling. She did that a lot when trying to apologize. She shook her head and stood up taking a step in the direction of her car. "But you really can come with us to get some ice cream. You can even come just as a friend and not have to worry about being a guardian angel," she smiled hoping that her comment would lighten the mood a bit.

Andrew started heading back to the buildings. He had thought a lot on his little walk around campus, almost enough to drive himself crazy. He had decided that he needed to try to make at least a couple friends, try to find someone that he could talk to. But he wasn't too sure who yet. When he was still a good distance off, he saw the group around Sammy. He didn't exactly feel like being in a crowd right now, then again he didn't much feel like hanging around with anyone right now even though he knew that would be best for him. He leaned up against a tree mostly out of sight as he watched the group trying to decide if he should go talk to any of them.

Then he saw the new kid, the one who had power over ice. Drew couldn't quite tell if he was part of the group or not, but he did seem to be talking to them. Ice didn't seem to be too bad of a guy. Drew hadn't talked to him much, but had heard the rumors of how he had grown up in the antarctic and his powers had been brought out because of a nuclear explosion he had been in. Ice had developed powers, but not for the same reason as others like Flame. Drew found himself wondering how Ice felt about the mutant gangs here in America, or if he even knew about them.

Drew finally mustered up the courage to go talk to Ice and started walking toward the group. Then he caught movement out of the corner of his eye. He looked over and saw Flame and Cat a few yards away walking in the direction of the group. Drew wondered why anyone would hang out with that guy. He hated Flame without ever having met him. Andrew knew Jason's past and that was enough for Drew to judge him. Suddenly, Drew lost all interest in approaching the group, but he was already walking in that direction and had to decide what to do to not look too obvious. He continued walking and sat down a few benches away from the one Sammy was sitting on. He tried to act casual like he was just passing time, but he was actually trying to eavesdrop on the group hoping that Flame would walk on by and not join up with the group.

Ice saw Flame but had no idea who he was or what he could do.Ice was still in his ice formation.He jogged over to Flame."Hi i'm Ice.I heard everybody here had weird powers like mine.What can you do?"Ice held out an icey hand.

"on and off since I was little. I don't like it as much as some of the other stuff I did but I'm fairly naturally athletic and a lot of my friends liked it a lot so I ended up playing quite a bit. you're pretty good yourself." as they were talking someone who appeared to be made entirely out of ice jogged over to them.
"Hi i'm Ice." he said "I heard everybody here had weird powers like mine.What can you do?"

what is it with guys around here and names based on their powers? 'Ice' and 'Flame.' counterparts. well, this should be interesting.

"I'm Caitlyn. I have superspeed, though I'm not very good with it yet."

"Hi Caitlyn."Ice turned his icey head towards her."WOW!!Thats a cool power!As you can see,I have the power of ice.And I have a special power also,but thats my little secret."

okay then. 'your little secret' it is. she found that a little annoying, but it wasn't really a big deal.

"what do you mean the power of ice? and are you actually made of ice or just encased in it?"

"Hey I'm Flame. And if you havent guessed from the flamin tatoos on my arms, fire is my weapon. I wonder if i could melt you. That'd be interesting." Flame was't sure if he liked this guy, he seemed a lillte show offy.

(((no body casn use their powers yet. Except Jason, cuase he was a bad boy. She also said that they shouldn't have any physical differences from and ordinary person.we had a big cat ear disscussion))
