Izzy paused. "So I wonder what we're supposed to be doing now. Think we have to stay in our rooms or what?"
She had just finished saying this when she heard a loudspeaker outside the door to their room, announcing dinner. Izzy raised her eyebrows at Hope. "I guess that answers that question. I think I'll head down there. You coming?"
Aura refrained from rolling her eyes and merely complied. She left her bags in the room and followed Kade out into the hall.
"So, where do we go?"
Aura looked at Kade and glared. Insults and rude comments floated through her mind, but she decided against using any of them. She wasn't really angry, just hurt and not by what the girl had said. Aura could have cared less what Kade thought. It was the fact that she was stuck in this place, and couldn't escape.
"Don't even for one second assume you know anything about me. In case you hadn't noticed, I am majorly [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]ed at being here, but I don't have a freaking choice. It is the end of the world; mine, and now I'm stuck here at this pathetic excuse for an academy, waiting to learn how to use 'powers' I never even knew I had until three days ago, when I should actually be celebrating the marriage my parents called off behind my back. If you have a problem with my attitude, take it up with whoever's in charge and have me kicked out."
Aura could have screamed. It was all happening again. She felt like she was back in grade shcool when people just didn't understand her. She stood still for a moment and tried to cool her emotions. She didn't notice how the lights in the hallway flickered, dimmed and went back to normal. She ran a hand through her short, blue hair(it was natural, not dyed) and sighed. She took a deep breath and followed Kade, but made sure to stay well behind her. As they walked, her mind drifted to the day her parents told her about her powers...
"Aura, there you are! Come sit down, dear. Your father and I have something to tell you."
Aura looked at her father, who seemed very upset. When his gaze met hers, he nodded towards the couch. Without hesitation she sat. Her mom sighed and dove right in to the speech Aura could tell she'd prepared.
"Darling, you got a letter today from the FBI. They want you to join a team of special opperatives."
Aura laughed out loud. "Me? In the FBI? Mom, come one, if you're going to pull a prank you need to think of something that's actually believable."
Her mother pulled a thick, blank envelope from behind her. It had Aura's name printed in large, bold letters on the front. Aura took it and opened it. Sure enough, it was from a branch of the FBI. Aura read the letter in amazement. She hadn't even gone halfway through it before she asked, "They keep talking about people who are 'special like me'. What do they mean?"
Her father took a deep breath and sighed. Her mother glared at him and continued.
"When you were born, we had you checked for any special powers-"
"You mean, mutations?"
"Yes. We didn't care either way, we just wanted to know wether or not you had any. Well, you did."
Aura was speechless.
"We didn't tell you, because we didn't want you to grow up feeling wierd. We wanted you to fit in and enjoy your life."
Aura still didn't know what to say. Her mother continued.
"This Academy they're talking about is for you and other mutants like you. You'll train in the same way the FBI does, only you'll learn how to advance your powers."
Aura's eyes widened. "You want me to go?"
"Of course dear. It's a wonderful opportunity."
Aura shook her head. "No, mom, no. I'm getting married in a week, I can't do that! And, since I'm talking, why don't I just say thank you for keeping such a valuable piece of information from me, when I could easily have used it! Now I have to go call Joaquin and tell him!"
"Dear, I wouldn't suggest you do that."
Aura frowned. She looked from her father to her mother and then back to her father. "Why?"
Her father sighed and left the room, muttering, "It was your mother's idea."
Aura looked at her mother and waited.
"I cancelled your wedding."
Aura's mouth dropped open. "What?!"
"This was too great of an opportunity for you to miss! I knew you wouldn't choose to do it yourself, and it's not like Joaquin would be supportive, so I felt the resposibility to cancel the wedding."
Aura stood slowly to her feet, tears filling her eyes. "Mom, please tell me you didn't..."
"I did, Aura."
Aura ran to from the house out to her car. She didn't even bother buckling up; she just drove as quickly as possible to Joaquin's house. She ran up to the door and knocked as hard as she could. No one answered. She tried calling him on her cell phone, but there was no answer. She'd never been so angry at anyone...
Aura wiped the tears from her eyes and tried to gain control of herself. She was determined to find Joaquin and set things straight, even if it took her a lifetime.

"Hey!! I'm Sammantha. I am sooooo excited about having a room mate!! So, what's your name??""
Katherine was halfway to the dining hall when she realized it probably wasn't a good idea to show up with a smelly ferret on her shoulder.Kyler
Kyler wasn't known to argue against anyone. "If you want that room you can have it. They're both the same anyway. " Kyler picked up his bag and tossed it onto the other bed. Jason laughed and walked into the room. Then the speaker announced that dinner would be served in a half hour. Jason ran out the door, aparently very excited about eating here. "Hope the food's good !" he said right before he left. Kyler smiled, finally a chance to get away from this creep. he just met him and never wanted to see him again. He reminded him of the guys who kyler used to work with. Kyler used to be a waiter in a restuerant and the other guys always used to mess with him. Because of Kyler's mutation slipps. he was considered too clumsy and demoted to bus boy. That was even worse. Kyler started to unload his bag. He didn't have much but still. He placed his clothes in the dresser and his photographs on the dressers. He scrambled though his bag finding all items that he kept in his night stand drawer. but when he went to find his walet it wasn't there.
Darn, i must have dropped it when i crashed into that girl. oh what was her name? I'll remeber her face. Maybe I can find her at dinner. that is if i can remember where the dinning hall is.
Kyler looked the door that Jason had just left wide open and made his way through the halls in search of the main dinning hall.
Izzy made her way down the corridors, trying to remember which was the way to the dining room. Now, don't you wish you had been paying more attention on the tour? She chided herself. Fortunately, there were others already coming out of their rooms and they all seemed to be heading in the same direction. Thankful for the fact that some people had been paying attention on the tour, she followed them quietly.
When she arrived downstairs in the dining hall, she was surprised to find it was more like a cafeteria with a kind of buffet set up on one end. But that suited her fine. The food hadn't yet been served, but there were drinks available. Izzy grabbed a cold soda and began drinking it from the can, glad for something to do with her hands. Her eyes scanned the small crowd of mutants gathering for the meal. Feeding time at the mutant zoo. Izzy thought to herself, trying to contain a smile.
((I think it would be more interesting if she ran into Jason, he's in the hall too.))Katherine was halfway to the dining hall when she realized it probably wasn't a good idea to show up with a smelly ferret on her shoulder.
What an idiot!! she fumed as she hurried down the hall, I can't believe I forgot to put him back in the room when I heard dinner would be served. Now I might be even be late!! What if I'm the last to walk in and everyone stares at me?!
She quickened her pace, clutching Lenny in her arms. The ferret knew better than to argue, but he still squirmed uncomfortably as she sped around a corner, only to walk right into someone. She unconsciously let out a small yelp, then stumbled back a little.
((Note: My character's 4'10" (VERY SHORT) because she's part Chinese, so I doubt it would've jostled him much.))
