"I have never been swimming before", responded Peta.
she sighed loudly at the thought of her life on the reservation. "Friends were non-existant on the reservation, most of the kids were younger than me. All of the kids my age was sent away to a school to learn trades and get a better education. I was taught by a elder in my tribe. My time was spent learning the tribal ways and being given as much of a education as she could give me. "

Seeing the pain in her new friends eyes, struck Peta's heart hard. "I am so sorry those other kids were so mean to you. They were wrong to call you names and mistreat you."


It felt good to be able to show someone else her secret, her father always special made her moccasins to fit her feet. By doing this they also kept her secret quiet from the outsiders and curiousity of the others on the reservation. Only a certain number of the elders knew about her. "My father says I will grow out of the clumsiness and be able to see without my glasses. I have just been able to wear contacts recently. My father thinks as I learn to control and adapt to my powers, I will become more used to and like my namesake."


She smiled at the thought of a shoe being made to fit her feet. " No, I won't need any shoe made my father makes my moccasions to fit my feet. But you know it might be a fun thing to do though,to be able to wear a close to normal shoe."

Peta felt the younger girls shyness dropping away more, it encouraged her to know sjhe could help someone by just being a friend. It seemed this is what her teacher had been teaching her for so long. "I at first was so scared and did not want to leave my father. He is the one that encouraged me to go and find my true idenity. Also he was hoping i could make friends with others like me."

Peta's smile got bigger and she felt better about coming to the academy. " When we get back to the academy, we can go to the office and request to room together. I think we should be getting there soon."

Vanorah was shocked to hear Peta had never been swimming, "You've never been swimming!?" Regaining some composure after the shock she smiled warmly up at Peta, "Then we definately need to go swimming and I will teach you how to swim. You'll love it!"

With a glance at her gloved hands, "My dad, well actually he's my adoptive dad as both my real parents died in an accident when I was two. Anyway, he got me my first pair of gloves when he saw how the others at school were making fun of me 'cause my hands looked different."

Nodding, "I know. I spent the whole trip here crying and trying to talk dad out of sending me so far away. But he said it would be good for me to meet others like me and maybe find someplace where I would fit in."

Vanorah clapped her hands and laughed brightly, "Oh could we!!? Really? I'd love that! I hope we get there soon, I didn't realized I'd wandered so far from the place."

Connor got closer to Sammy, still unsure of what he was going to do. He decided thsat he would risk touching her and grabbed her by the shoulder. A tiny shock trembled down his arm, but nothing more. He wrapped his arms around Sammantha.

"There, see? You're ok. You're ok, Sam. Ok??"

Sammy finally stopped moving and covered her face with her hands, her body trembling. The loos of blood from her wound finally took it's toll and she lost consciousness in his arms. Connor stood there for a moment, the girl's limp body leaning on his shoulder, then a lifted her into his arms and prepared to attempt to teleport somewhere safer.

"sure" Caitlyn's adrenaline rush was in the process of dying, leaving her feeling a little tired and with an urge to repeat the experience. which was a little bizarre if you thought about it, since she'd been scared before the fight started, but Caitlyn was addicted to lots of things that had scared her before she tried them. that was half the fun. she looked around trying to focus.
jerking her head at the alleyway where Connor and Sammy were vaguely visible. "should we head over towards them, then?"

"Sounds like a plan." Jason said taking on his leadership skills and leading the way toward Conor and Sammy. When they had gotten there, they could all see that the battle had taken a toll on Sammy. Aparently Jason wasn't the only one who would leave the battle with more tha just an experiance. Then Jason noticed five distinctive slash marks pouring blood out of Sammy's back. That could only be the work of one person, Scarlet.

"We have to call an ambulance, we dont know how much blood she's lost." Jason said rushing over to Sammy's side. "Does anyone have a cell phone? Someone call 911. " Then jason looked up at conner. "How long has she been out? I dont know how much longer she has."

Caitlyn gasped as she saw the blood soaking through the back of Sammy's t-shirt. "Does anyone have a cell phone? Someone call 911. " said Jason. "I've got one somewhere. " she fumbled around for it.

"Thank you for offering to teach me I would like to learn how to swim," she said as she smiled at Vanorah.

Peta glanced down at her feet; feeling the younger girl's pain at hearing about the death of her parents. "I am sorry to hear about your parents"


She laughed thinking of one of the last talks her father and she had before she left for the academy. Peta was not wanting to go away from her father. But he had told her it would be good to get off the reservation and not be sheltered by him anymore. "Oh my, my father said the same thing, when we argued about me leaving the reservation. He said it would be good for me to get out and make friends with others that would understand me."

"I wonder where the others are, I thought they started out ahead of us" said Peta looking around the street. All of sudden something cold went thru her body causing her to shiver and shake. "Something doesn't feel right, I feel a cold chill from somewhere. Do you feel it Vanorah?" as she wrapped her arms around her body trying to get warm.

Hope followed the rest of the group toward Sammy and Connor. Her head was starting to clear as she realized it really was over and they were safe, for now. But then she saw Sammy's back. She could hardly believe the girl was still alive, though she might not be for long in the condition she was in and with all the blood she was still losing.

A thought hit her. It was probably a stupid idea, but it could work. But this was someone's life she was dealing with here, not just water in a cup or somethng. Still, she had to try.

Hope concentrated all her energy and emotion on the blood flowing out of Sammy's wounds. She felt her power begin to work. The blood began to solidify. She couldn't return any of Sammy's lost blood, but at least she wouldn't lose any more as long as Hope could keep this up. It seemed that just a little while ago during the fight her powers came so much easier to her, but now it took everything she had. She'd have to stay concentrating until Sammy's body could start repairing itself or at least until the ambulence got here.

Jason watched in awe as Hope clotted the blood around Sammy's wounds. "Nice thinking." He said. Then a sound caught his ear. The sound of sirens arriving on the scene, but Citlyn hadn't even gotten her phone yet. "I suppose all the comotion attracted some attention. "' He exclaimed as police cars, SWAT vans, firetrucks and ambulances entered the area. "Saves us the trouble of calling them ourselves." Then Jason thought back to his sneaking out. If he was caught they'd send him back to prison for sure.

He turned to Hope, but then realized she was still focusing on Sammy. So insteed he turned to Caitlyn. " Listen Cat. I wasn't suppose to leave the academy. I broke the rules and snuck out. Now if the FBI finds out, they'll send be back to prison without a doubt. So I need to sneek back into the academy. If anyone asks i was never here. Understand?" The he started to stand up to leave, but the pain in his side kept him from doing so. Jason fell back down on his knees and clasped his wound with his hand. "Ahhhh" He had forgotten about the pain, but now that his adrenalin had fadded the tearing pain was almost unbarrable.

"right. go." normally she might have at least disapproved, but Jason was a friend, and under the circumstance she was more than a little glad he'd come. she moved towards Connor, then stopped and turned back towards Jason as he cried out and fell. she took a few steps towards him, then stopped herself "Are you all right??" she hissed, hoping he'd be able to get out by himself, since she wasn't sure how they were supposed to help him and cover for him at the same time.

Vanorah didn't feel whatever it was that was upsetting her new friend but she trusted the older girls instincts. And so, while she was terrified of going back into a potential hostile enviroment, she nodded and quickly followed Peta back towards the ice-cream shoppe.

Connor was immediatly concerned for Jason when he fell to the ground in pain as well. He saw a blood stain growing around a hole in his shirt. He shifted Sammy's weight and reached out to Jason.

"Here, take my hand. I think I can get all three of us back to the agency before the FBI gets here."

All the noise from the sirens made Hope lose concentration. But she noticed that the blood stayed clotted. She had merely sped up the process that Sammy's body would have done naturally and now it was staying in that condition on it's own.

As she started to focus on what was going on around her, she became concerned about Sammy and Jason trying to go back to the academy. "Hey wait just a second," she called out. "Neither one of you are in any condition to being walking back to the academy. And then what are you going to do once you get there. Just wait a minute and we'll figure something out. You both need to be looked at by medical people. Jason, we'll all cover for you. Right?" she said looking around at the others. "You came back to help us, so we'll do what we can to help you. We need to learn how to stick together and no one, not even the FBI, can threaten to seperate anyone of us from the rest. Right guys?"

Vanorah, being the sensitive person she was, picked up on the urgency that Peta was feeling. Glancing over nervously, "Uhm should we run? Are you able to run? " Flustered she blushed and stared at the ground.

Peta felt the cold lessen, but she stiil felt that something was still wrong. "I think I can run, but I would feel better if I could fly right now. It is just it would draw attention to us." She started out and stumbled at first, but regained her balance and stride the further she went.

Jason was shaking from the loss of blood. What Hope had said was right, but still Jason wasn't the person who would ever admitt that he needed help, let alone accept help. He pride got in the way. He started to stand up again. "I'm fine alright! I dont need help from any of you!" He stood, but then passed out and fell to the ground.

Caitlyn rushed over to Jason. "Right" she said, struggling to lift him. "you're fine."

At the same time the chills had gotten worse, she could sense there was not one; but two of her fellow students that were in pain. "Oh Great Spirit, please help those who are injured and hurt right now" she prayed silently.

"I don't need to walk us there. I can try to teleport the three of us back. Though I think Jason's gonna get in trouble either way. He needs serious help. There's no way around that."

Peta rounded the corner near the ice cream shop, she could still hear the sirens approaching the scene. She scanned the street looking for the rest of the group. Peta slid to a stop not far from where Conner and Hope where at. She gasped for a breath before speaking; "Tell me they are still breathing" as she clutched her side. She knew the other two was close by; she could feel the battle of life and death going on around her. Peta kneeled on the ground beside Jason and Sam.

Vanorah arrived on the scene alongside Peta. While she'd managed to overcome her shyness and fear of strangers with Peta, here were a lot more strangers and she didn't know if they were as nice as Peta. So she shrank in on herself and tried to hide behind Peta.

Hearing the sirens she jumped, eyes widening and she glanced around frantically. Pulling herself together with an effort she shyly left Peta's shadow and forced herself to speak up. "Uhm, is there...I mean...can I help?" Here was a chance for her to be useful so, voice shaking and gloved hands clenched tightly, "Do you need to stay hidden from those coming with the sirens? Cause, I can make it so you will, if you need it."

Poor Vanorah was terrified. She didn't know what she wanted, for them to accept her offer or reject it. Torn and wanting nothing better than to hide she stood behind and slightly to one side of Peta and waited for a response.
