I disagree. We also demand immediate medical care in a health emergency. Does that make "us" the at-fault party in regards to misdiagnosis when faced with a health emergency? Or should doctors take care when diagnosing?

Demand is nothing new.

You're right, it's not so new anymore. However, there was a time when newsroom editors had time to evaluate sources and publish daily...whether that was a newspaper or the evening news. With the advent of ratings driven cable news, the internet, twitter etc, editors are under pressure to make decisions in minutes.....

If the first casualties from covid were a bunch of NFL players dropping dead suddenly on the field, that would be a reasonable perspective for an initial take. They had a quote from the health ministry because it was a hospital that was hit. A discerning reader should be able to assess that, while the health ministry might be a good source for initial casualty estimates and where the attack occurred, their statements on the identity perpetrator are probably less reliable. I had no problem reading that and deciding that there wasn't enough information yet to know for sure who did it. Same as when Israel blamed Hamas without presenting any evidence initially.

It's a fine line to walk, but the important thing is to include information so that readers can make their own judgment. Misinformation and disinformation is characterized by not providing that additional context. It's the difference between "Israel bombs Palestinian hospital" and "Israel bombs Palestinian hospital, claims Palestinian health ministry". One of those headlines makes a statement of fact, the other presents it as an opinion and tells you who thinks that.

They may also have been pandering to a target audience, who would be more apt to click on headlines where a little glimmer of hope would shine into their eyes that Israel might be at fault.

Gee, maybe Hamas thought that someone from health (run by Hamas) would be more trustworthy and that a claim from them would be given more credibility compared to someone from the whatever military arm they have.

This is just a heads up for a few people. Any claims coming out from Gaza will be from Hamas. Whether it is the Ministry of Health (run by Hamas), the education department (run by Hamas), the tourism board (run by Hamas), the refuse collection department (run by Hamas), the births and deaths office (run by Hamas) or the local dog catcher (run by Hamas)...let's get real here.

So yeah, if the Gaza Dog Catcher Department gives out any info then it will be from Hamas.

First, nothing in the video suggests that Mitchell ran cover for any other outlet except for the one she works for, and there were no lies.
Second, the added comment in the OP offers nothing more than a partisan attack when one was not warranted.

I cant speak for MSNBC since I do not watch them, however I am having a difficult time taking many of these types of threads seriously.
