. Why did God send Jesus?

4:163
O Muhammad, We have sent revelations to you just as We sent to Nuh (Noah) and the Prophets who came after him; We also sent revelations to Ibrahim (Abraham), Isma`il (Ishmael), Ishaq (Isaac), Ya'qoob (Jacob), his descendants, Isa (Jesus), Ayub (Job), Yunus (Jonah), Haroon (Aaron) and Sulaiman (Solomon), and to Dawood (David) We gave the Psalms.

4:164
Revelations were also sent to those Rasools whom We have already mentioned to you and to those whose name We have not mentioned; to Musa Allah spoke directly.

4:165
All these Rasools conveyed good news to mankind and admonished them so that, after conveying the message through the Rasools, people should have no excuse to plead against Allah. Allah is Mighty, Wise.

I'm asking about how your sin is atoned for if Jesus didn't go to the cross to die in your behalf. Do you have an answer to that question?
Let me ask in reference to what you've said above: Just what did you do to atone for your sin, since you seem to be advocating that God commanded you to do something to earn your salvation?
Yes Deren,

A Muslim’s Faith may become Weak & He may be Overwhelmed by His desires. The Satan may make Sin attractive to Him, so He wrongs Himself to Commits Sin, and Falls into that which ALLAH has Horbidden.

But ALLAH is Kind to His Slaves, and His Mercy Encompasses ALL things. Whoever repents After doing wrong, ALLAH will accept His Repentance, For ALLAH is Forgiving & Merciful.

(AL-Ma'aidah 5:39) "But whosoever repents after his crime and does Righteous Good Deeds (Oy Obeying ALLAH), then verily, ALLAH will Pardon Him (Accept His Repentance). Verily, ALLAH is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful"

ALLAH is Forgiving & Generous. He Commands ALL His Slaves to Repent Sincerely so that they may Gain the mercy of Allaah and His Paradise.

Allaah says:

(AL-Tahrem 66:8) "O you who believe! Turn to ALLAH with Sincere Repentance! It may be that your Lord will expiate from you your Sins, and admit you into Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise)"

The Gate Of repentance is Open to His Slaves, Until the Sun rises from the west. The Prophet (PBUH) Said: "ALLAH spreads Out His Hand at Night to accept the Repentance Of those who did wrong during the day, and He Spreads Out His Hand during the day to accept the Repentance Of those who did wrong during the Night. (This will continue) until the Sun rises from the West" (Narrated by Muslim, no. 2759)

Sincere Repentance is not Merely the matter Of words Spoken On the tongue. Rather, the Acceptance Of repentance is subject to the Condition that the person Gives-up the Sin Straight-away, that He regrets what has Happened in the past, that He Resolves not to Go back to the thing He has repented from, that He Restores People’s Rights or property if His Sin involved Wrongdoing towards Others, and that He repents before the Agony Of death is upon Him. ALLAH says:

(AL-Nisaa' 4:17-18) "ALLAH accepts Only the Repentance Of those who do evil in Ognorance and Foolishness and Repent Soon Afterwards; It is they whom ALLAH will Forgive and ALLAH is Ever ALL-Knower, ALL-Wise. And Of No effect is the Repentance of those who Continue to do evil deeds until Death Faces One Of them and He says: ‘Now I repent’ Nor Of those who die while they are Disbelievers. For them We have Prepared a Painful Torment"

ALLAH accepts Repentance & is Merciful. He Calls Sinners to Repent, so that He might Forgive them:

(AL-An'aam 6:54) "…your Lord has written (Prescribed) Mercy for Himself, So that If any Of you does evil in Ignorance, and thereafter Repents and does Righteous good deeds (By Obeying ALLAH), then Surely, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful"

ALLAH is Kind to His Slaves & Loves those who Repent. He accepts their Repentance, as ALLAH says:

(AL-Shoora'a 42:25) "And He it is Who accepts Repentance from His Slaves, and Forgives Sins, and He knows what you do"

(AL-Baqarh 2:222) "Truly, ALLAH Loves those who turn unto Him in repentance and Loves those who Purify themselves"

When a Ka'afir "Dis-believer" becomes a Muslim, ALLAH turns His bad deeds into Good deeds, and Forgives Him all His previous Sins, as He says:

(AL-AnFaal 8:38) "Say to those who have Disbelieved, If they cease (From Disbelief), their past will be Forgiven"

ALLAH is Forgiving & Merciful, and He Loves the Repentance Of His Slaves. He commands them to repent so that He might Forgive them. But the Devils among Mankind and the want to turn People away from the truth and make them Incline towards Falsehood, as ALLAH:

(AL-Nisaa’ 4:27) "ALLAH wishes to accept your Repentance, but those who Follow their Lusts, wish that you (Believers) Should deviate Tremendously away (From the Right Path)"

The mercy Of ALLAH Encompasses ALL things. If a Person’s Sins are very great and He has wronged Himself very much, but He then repents, ALLAH will accept His repentance and will Forgive His Sins no matter How great they are. ALLAH says:

(AL-Zumer 39:53) "Say: O ‘Ibaadi (My Slaves) who Have Transgressed against themselves (By Committing evil deeds and Sins)! Despair not of the Mercy Of ALLAH, verily, ALLAH Forgives ALL Sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful"

The Prophet (PBUH) Said: "Our Lord comes down to the Lowest heaven when One-third Of the Night remains, and says, ‘Who will call upon Me So that I may answer him? Who will ask Me So that I may give to Him? Who will seek My Forgiveness so that I may Forgive Him?" (Narrated by Muslim, no. 758)

Man is weak. If a person Sins then He has to Repent and Seek Forgiveness every time. ALLAH is Forgiving and Merciful, and He is the One Who Says:

(AL-Nisaa' 4:110) "And whoever does evil or wrongs Himself but Afterwards Seeks ALLAH Forgiveness, He will Find ALLAH Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful"

The Muslim is vulnerable to making mistakes and sins. So He has to repent and Seek Forgiveness repeatedly. The Prophet (PBUH) Said: "By ALLAH, I seek the Forgiveness Of ALLAH and I turn to Him in Repentance more than Seventy times each day" (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 6307)

ALLAH Loves the Repentance Of His Slaves, and Accept It. Indeed, He Rejoices Over it, as the Prophet (PBUH) Said: "When a person Repents, ALLAH Rejoices more than One of you who Found His Camel after He lost it in the Desert" (Agreed upon. Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 6309)

I Hope I have Satisfied your Knowledge

Kind Regards

You are saying God sent His begotten son as an "ordinary" prophet
Prove it.

First of All, Thy God is One and Only, He beggets not, nor is He begotten and there is non comaparable to him.

If anyone disputes with you concerning this matter (the birth of Jesus) after full knowledge has come to you, say: "Come! Let us gather our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves: then let us earnestly pray and invoke the curse of Allah on the liars."

3:62
Verily this is the absolute true explanation. The fact of the matter is, that there is no god but Allah; and for sure Allah is the Mighty, the Wise.

Yep. Do you believe He was the King and Savior of Israel?

Matt 2:5 So they said to him, "In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet: 6 'But you, Bethlehem, [in] the land of Judah, Are not the least among the rulers of Judah; For out of You shall come a Ruler Who will Shepherd [#4165] My people Israel.' "

Luke 2:34 Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, "Behold, this [Child] is destined for the fall and rising [RESURRECTION] of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against 35 "(yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed."

Daniel 12: 2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame [and] everlasting contempt. 3 Those who are wise shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness Like the stars forever and ever.

Since Jesus (AS) is begotten to a virgin women, Jesus (AS) can not be "The God" or any part of "The God" because Thy God is One and Only, independent of all, while all are dependent on Him, He begets not, nor is He begotten, And there is none comparable to Him.

In conclusion, Jesus is begotten to a vergin that means He is not God or any part of God. Jesus (AS) can not be son of God because God himself says He begets not that means he doesn't have any son.

hence Jesus is a Prophet.

So again. Why did God send Jesus the Christ?
Very GOOD Question Little, But I would Really Like to Generalize this Question Contain ALL Prophets, From an Islamic Prospective, Since this would Get Us to Know each Other Better.

GOD was Gracious to the Believers when He Raised-up among them a Messenger From themselves who Recites to them the verses Of His Book, and Shows them His Signs, Purifies them Of their Sins & Their deviations Of thought & belief, and Instructs them in the Book and the Wisdom. They were evidently in manifest Misguidance Before.

(AL-Baqarh 2:151) "Even as We have sent unto you a messenger from among you, who reciteth unto you Our revelations and causeth you to grow, and teacheth you the Scripture and wisdom, and teacheth you that which ye knew not"

GOD Sent Messengers to Mankind throughout the Ages So that Mankind might be Guided to the truth and be Purified Of Sins. Those who were Enlightened By the Messengers Of GOD, found the way to the Divine Presence and Attained the Highest Rank Of Humanity.

(Hud 11:25) "And We Sent Noah Unto His Folk (and He said): Lo! I am a plain warner unto you"

(Hud 11:28-31) "He said: O my people! Bethink you, If I rely On a Clear Proof From my Lord and there Hath come Unto Me a mercy From His Presence, and It Hath been made Obscure to you, Can we Compel you to accept It when ye are averse thereto ? And O my people! I ask Of you No Wealth therefor. My reward is the Concern Only Of Allah, and I am not going to thrust away those who believe - Lo! they have to meet their Lord! - But I see you a Folk that are Ignorant. And, O My people! who would Deliver Me From Allah If I thrust them away ? Will ye not then Reflect ? I say Not Unto you: "I have the Treasures Of Allah" nor "I have knowledge Of the Unseen" nor say I: "Lo! I am an angel!" Nor say I unto those whom your Eyes Scorn that Allah will not give them Good - ALLAH knoweth best what is in their Hearts - Lo! then Indeed I should be Of the Wrong-doers"

GOD cannot be Contained by the Heavens & Earth. Minds cannot Comprehend Him. Philosophical thoughts are by no means Sufficient to reach Him. Therefore, It was the Prophets who Purified the Souls So that they could be the Mirrors Of His Commandments.

(AL-Isra'a 17:105-109) "With Truth have We Sent It down, and with truth Hath It Descended. And We have Sent thee as Naught Else save a Bearer Of good Tidings and a Warner. And (It Is) a Qur’an that We have Divided, that thou Mayst Recite It unto Mankind at Intervals, and We have Revealed It by (Successive) Revelation. Say: Believe therein or Believe not, lo! those who were Given Knowledge Before It, when It is read Unto them, Fall down Prostrate On their Faces, Adoring, Saying: Glory to Our Lord! Verily the promise Of Our Lord must be Fulfilled. They fall down on their Faces, weeping, and It increaseth Humility In them"

GOD Sent the Prophets So that they Might Guide us to His Service. All the Prophets were Sent For the same purpose, with the Exception that while the Mission Of all the Previous Prophets was Limited to Only One nation and a Fixed Period, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was sent as a Mercy to All the Worlds.

(AL-Anbiya'a 21:107) "We Sent thee Not save as a Mercy For the peoples. Say: It Is Only Inspired in me that your GOD is One GOD. Will ye then Surrender (Unto Him) ? But If they are Averse, then say: I have warned you all Alike, although I Know not Whether Nigh or Far Is that which ye are Promised. Lo! He Knoweth that which Is Said Openly, and that which ye Conceal"

Another Purpose For Sending the Prophets Is to Communicate to people the Divine Commandments, like the Obligations Of Performing Prayers, Fasting, and the Prohibitions Of all kinds Of illicit Sexual Intercourse, Drinking Alcohol and Gambling. But For the Prophets, we could not Have Known the Divine Commandments. This function of the Prophets is Called "Messengership" Concerning which the Qur’an Declares:

(AL-Ahzab 33:39) "They deliver the Messages Of GOD and fear Him, and do not Fear anyone except GOD"

The Mission Of the Messenger was to Enlighten all Of Humanity Concerning every Dimension Of their life. So, any Neglect in delivering GOD's Message would be an Unforgivable Fault For It would amount to Leaving Humanity in Darkness.

(An-Nahl 16:43-44) "And We Sent not (as Our messengers) before thee Other than Men whom We Inspired - Ask the Followers Of the Remembrance If ye know Not! - With Clear Proofs and writings; and We have Revealed Unto thee the Remembrance that thou Mayst explain to Mankind that which Hath been revealed For Them, and that Haply they may Reflect"

To set a good example For Other People was another Duty Of the Prophets – A duty which we must Also always Observe Consciously

(AL-Ahzab 33:21) "You have a good example in GOD’s Messenger for whoever hopes for God and the Last Day, and remembers GOD oft"

All Of the Prophets, Peace be Upon them all, Came to establish this Balance – the Balance between Material & Spiritual life, between Reason & Soul, between this World & the next, and Between Indulgence & Abstinence. While we Should, On the One hand, Declare All that GOD has Be-stowed On Us In Order to Indicate Our Gratitude and due Praise For Him, as commanded in the Qur’an, And as for your Lord’s Blessing and Bounty, Declare It (AL-Duha, 93:11) "Therefor Of the Bounty Of thy Lord be thy Discourse", we Should not Forget, On the Other Hand, that we will be asked to account For every Good we Enjoy, as announced, again, in the Qur’an, Then you shall be Questioned that day concerning every good you enjoy (AL-Takathur 102:8) "Then, on that day, ye will be asked concerning pleasure"

I Hope this Answers your Question

Can we agree the jews are still awaiting on their Moshiach? Could Jesus have been the one, because if He wasn't , the jews are waiting in vain for him.
We agree Jesus returns in His Glory in the future but the OT/OC prophecied a Savior and Redeemer for Israel. What happened to him?. I am really puzzled on this brother.

This my last reply to you on this subject...

When you use loaded term like "Lord" it contradicts with my belief because Only "The God" is the Lord of Mankind and the Lord of Israel.

Note: My advice not to use the word "Lord" when refering to Jesus because there is Only One Lord, Thy Creator.

It's not appropriate to use the word "King" when refering to Jesus (AS) either because the very nature of Jesus (AS) was not domineering and we find the common nature of kings is to dominate.

Savior of Israel as in terms of guiding the people of israel.....now that's some thing which we find common in-between you and US. "Yes he was sent by God to guide the people of Israel"

This Question My Friend Can be Directed to Jews Themselves, I can't Speak For them. But

Could Jesus have been the one, because if He wasn't , the jews are waiting in vain for him
I don't believe that Jesus was the One Jews awaited, Neither He Claimed to Be the Promised One.

Why are you So Buzzled about the Redeemer Of Israel ? You Already Had your Redeemer Jesus Christ, Right ?

I understand.I didn't mean for it to be a loaded question, honest.

Lord has a number of meanings though and it doesn't have to be God. Jesus came to set up a kingdom not of this earth, so in essence He was King of the Kingdom above with God His Father.

(NKJV) Matthew 23:39 "for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, 'Blessed [is] He who comes in the name of the LORD!' "

(NKJV) Mark 12:36 "For David himself said by the Holy Spirit: 'The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool." '

of the Lord

Zeph 3:14 Sing, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all [your] heart, O daughter of Jerusalem! 15 The LORD has taken away your judgments, He has cast out your enemy. The King of Israel, the LORD, [is] in your midst; You shall see disaster no more.

Hi Deren, the answer to your opening question was given by Skillganon.

This answer shows that Allah merely forgives when one sincerely repents through prayer. If God is all powerful and merciful why cannot he merely forgive those who ask for forgiveness?

If that's his response, then I would have to ask why God would deceive people into believing that a substitute died on Jesus' cross, as Islam teaches? Furthermore, I would have to ask what all the OT blood sacrifices were intended for, if they were not for the atoning of sin?

They said: "Father! Pray for the forgiveness for our sins. We have indeed done wrong."

12:98
He replied: "Soon I will ask my Rabb for your forgiveness; surely He is the One who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."

-----------------------------------------------

2:199
Then return from where the others return and ask Allah's forgiveness; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

27:46
Saleh said: "O my people! Why do you wish to hasten towards evil rather than good? Why do you not ask forgiveness of Allah so that you may be shown mercy?"

-----------------------------------------------

48:11
The beduin Arabs who stayed behind will soon say to you: "Our goods and families kept us occupied, so please ask forgiveness for us." They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Tell them: "Who can intervene on your behalf with Allah if it be His will to do you harm or He pleases to do you good? Allah is well aware of your actions.

-----------------------------------------------

9:80
O Prophet! It is the same, whether you ask forgiveness for them or not; even if you ask for their forgiveness seventy times, Allah is not going to forgive them: because they have disbelieved Allah and His Rasool. Allah does not guide those who are transgressors.

-----------------------------------------------

13:6
They ask you to hasten on the evil (Allah's scourge) rather than the good, although there have been instances of exemplary punishments before them. In fact your Rabb is the Lord of Forgiveness to the people, notwithstanding their wrongdoing; and it is also the fact that your Rabb is stern in retribution.

-----------------------------------------------

17:15
He that seeks guidance, shall be guided to his own advantage, but he that goes astray does so to his own loss. No bearer shall bear the burden of another on the Day of Judgement. And during your worldly life, We do not inflict punishment until We send forth a Rasool to make truth distinct from falsehood.

So, in your mind, all one has to do is ask for atonement, but there is no blood sacrifice involved? Notice, I said atonement, not forgiveness.
