It's very simple, just tell me all of the reasons you can think of.

God bless you.

Why are you not a Mormon??

Why pick the Mormons?

What about the Calvanists, the Anglicans, the Jews, the menonites, etc, etc??.

I can think of a few reasons to NOT be catholic

um, not the same thing (and neither is blessing or dedication) as making a choice to follow God. I don't see baptism without choice as meaningful in the person being baptised's life. I see dedication and blessings as token things parents do to show how they will raise their children which is fine.

Most churches, including the RCC, that baptize infants also administer confirmation at "the age of reason." The should be considered a choice, since the person is of the age of reason.

The following, from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, explains:
1316 Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds.

I hope that helps.

This is the Latter-Day Saint forum. Why wouldn't he ask the LDS in this forum?

Are we made clean by the water or the blood?
blood... baptism/mikvah is an outward sign of acceptance... not essential (yes, I know some will argue with me)
Wrong. Judaism is still as much a religion as christianity is.
you can choose to be a Jew, yes, but from birth, from a Jewish mother (dad not required), whether or not you want to admit it, you are a Jew, and this has always been true. Even if you convert, you're still considered a Jew by Jews.

I know that. I just think the baptism part is empty until that point.

I kinda saw it as picking too so don't feel like you're perspective is unusual.

Why are you not a Mormon??

Because I know that God is too great to have an apostasy. I know that the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one God and not three unique Gods. I know that I will not become a God after death and I will not be reunited with a wife after death and continue to have spirit children with her in the spirit world.

Why pick the Mormons?

Becuase the subject is on mormons.

What about the Calvanists, the Anglicans, the Jews, the menonites, etc, etc??.

I know many of them and do talk to them. Why do you ask?

I can think of a few reasons to NOT be catholic

That's fine, please open up and tell all.

This is absolutely absurd.

I just think the baptism part is empty until that point.

But you called it strange. Is it really strange? Is being baptized at age eight also strange?

If this thread was abusive the moderators would close it down.

I think it's a fair question to ask any non-Catholic. And I don't intend to become Catholic.

I know, I don't see what is wrong with asking such a thing. If I said "protestants, why won't you become Catholic" that wouldn't be seen as offensive.

My point was that the child had no choice about being circumcised.
and again, christianity isn't something you're born into like Judaism (and YES you can convert as an adult after schooling)
