I have heard people say they were possessed before (pretty much all online). They were all very crazy... such that it is hard to know if there is real possession or just mental insanity. Often the mental insanity is apparent first. However, remember the demon possessed that Christ freed. Were they not insane? I think that it is beyond our ability to tell such things (if the demon possession is 'real')..

For both mental damage and demon possession Christ is key to peace. And any time that there is demon posession, severe mental damage will take place.
