Modern day systemic racism, does it exist?

Seen those charts before. The question has been asked before. There are those on here who ask what is the barrier within the black community that discourages pursuing better opportunities. And a number of facts and research points to a number of factors within the community itself like not pursuing careers that provide better opportunities for more money and advancement.

Just sticking up charts answers no real questions. All it di a is seek to blame and say that outcomes mean systemic racism which in fact does not. It's only assumed.
It shows a pattern of blacks having a harder time in this country than others. You likely can't comprehend it because you have no experience with it. When you've had that boot on your neck you gain a different perspective. Ignoring the problem is convenient but it doesn't help.

You've never had a boot to your neck or have faced oppression.

Of all the people in the world, who have ever lived, you have the luck to live in the wealthiest nation with more freedoms, opportunities, and rights than probably 99.9% of people who ever lived.

The idea that you or anyone here would describe their obstacles as a "boot to your neck" is a joke.

Is there anything that is beyond your expertise?

I don't pretend to read minds...like proponents of this nonsense. Perhaps you can share your expertise on the topic.

I'm sorry but without any actual evidence it seems like most of this comes down to the color of band aids or filling out 2 more resumes than the guy next to you.

We aren't talking about getting marched into forced labor camps here. That's typically the result these equity plans.

If you ever listen to someone who actually faced oppression you'll be able to tell the difference immediately. It's not hidden in systems that require assumption. It's plainly visible.

I grew up during the 50s and 60s during what was labeled the "civil rights era." There was racism plain and simple. Churches were being burned. Hoses on black protestors. Back of the bus, no eating at the counter, beatings, hangings, murder. Every night on network TV right along with the body count in VN.
"From 1882 to 1968, 4,743 lynchings occurred in the U.S"
There was the KKK.
As late as 1974 I stood shoulder to shoulder with black friends as the nuts in sheets marched down the main street of a southern town.
That was racism. I see nothing like that today. No sheets. No lynchings. No Clan. No church burnings. etc etc etc.
This "systematic" racism and "white supremacy" as touted today are myths invented by some (mostly political) to stir up hate and division.
If you have suffered racism today, I feel for you.
But there is no comparison to what was happening a scant 49 years ago. It dishonors those who struggled in the real fights less than a half century ago.

Does it still take lynching and church burning for some people to recognize racism?

Systematic racism is no more real that a conspiracy,
what was seen on facebook that day was sheer hatred
everyone has obstacles
How do you acocunt for somehting like:

We perform a field experiment to measure racial discrimination in the labor market. We respond with fictitious resumes to help-wanted ads in Boston and Chicago newspapers. To manipulate perception of race, each resume is assigned either a very African American sounding name or a very White sounding name. The results show significant discrimination against African-American names: White names receive 50 percent more callbacks for interviews.

as a white man that has spent most of my adult life unemployed and a better part of a decade on and off residentially challenged,
it happens to people from every ethnic background

I guess even if you burn a black church or lynch someone, you can't prove it was because of racism. I guess it can only be racist activity if someone stands up and says "I'm doing this for racist reasons." Otherwise, no matter how racist the activity, it's not really racist until they confess to it.

What kind of white sounding names were used? Names like Robert Johnson? Or Nicholi Chapochnikov, John Anderson? or Wojciech Brzezicki? I will bet you a black Robert Johnson or a black John Anderson would have been called back before a white Nicholi Chapochnikov or a white Wojciech Brzezicki any day because people are more likely to get call backs with easy to pronounce or American sounding names. Most black people I know have easy to pronounce or American sounding names

What are you talking about? Who on earth is putting a boot on your neck? What boot are you talking about?

None of those charts asks the question why. Much of why lies at the feet of the black community right now.

In America it definitely rested at the feet of white slave holders and in Jim Crow the white community as a whole was a problem and held them back.

But now, all of that is over. There is not one thing that a black person cannot do and there is no one putting a boot on anyone's neck.

I'd like to know who is putting a boot on your neck.

So, it could’ve been ethnic discrimination and not racism?

What compels you to run to this “defense”?

This level of rhetoric “boot to the neck” is getting dog-whilstly, to my ears.

Even then...as awful as it sounds... I'd rather deal with that than what happened to many other parts of the world during that time. If I had to choose between being a southern black man in the 50s or any Chinese person in China during the same time....it's black man every single time.
And you have the luxury to take it as a joke. Not everyone can.
Well quit telling jokes. Boot on your neck....please.

I watched 500 riots in 2020 and people were more upset about the occasional tear gas canister or rubber bullet. I watched BLM walk off with 90+ million in donations to the black community (you know, cuz black lives matter) and they aren't even behind bars. I just watched a San Francisco council on reparations suggest that every black person be handed infinite money and basically nobody laughed....or raised the obvious objections.

The boot to your neck looks awfully comfortable. It somehow protects you from all responsibilities and criticism. No wonder you don't hesitate to tell people about it.
