Modern day systemic racism, does it exist?

Or you have had personal experience with it.

I already said you probably have. Which has most likely created a place where you see racism that isn't there.
These media and activists also fill your head full of it further amplifying your perceptions.

Then it's fortunate you will never have to experience it.

Why do you think she hasn't experienced racism?

For those of us who have, we are sick of racism racism racism as well.

Nah....I'm not so sure some people are sick of it. Some people seem to see it everywhere....including places it isn't, and turn a blind eye to it as long as it's not against themselves.

Those people seem to want racism to stay.

Why don't you comment on something you have experience with instead of injecting your uninformed comments?

....

These racial discussions can really only go two ways....

1. You leave personal experiences out of it and stick to facts.
2. You include personal experiences but they're subject to scrutiny/dismissal.

That is pretty much it. To argue that your personal experiences matter and no one else's do....or they cannot somehow relate to yours....or that your perceptions or emotions might have distorted the experiences.....

You open the discussion up to include your personal experiences. You may not get whatever effect you wanted.

You would know in your heart or mind that you are a racist. You don't know your own mind?

@rturner76....some people believe intent doesn't matter. Some people believe you can say something racially offensive on accident and it's not an excuse that you didn't intend to offend anyone.

Now...if you think intentions do matter....then no, I don't think I'm racist. It doesn't even matter if someone insists upon a racial characteristic. For example, you know how you sort of attempt to speak as if you can approximate the experiences of racism that every black person in the US aka a boot to your neck etc?

When you say something like that... I remind myself that no...you don't speak to every black person's experiences, some won't relate to you anymore than they do to me....some will relate more with me.

It's not that difficult....just takes practice lol.

No it doesn't

Yeah it does.

Even if you genuinely believe that they're talking about removing some sort of advantage white men have....there's a link to the survey right in the article. It's rather clear they're speaking about racial discrimination against white men....in unambiguous terms.

You've spent the last several pages fooling no one.

No....they're definitely advantaged over white men at least.

Explicitly stated...we don't have to assume the racial discrimination is happening....they plainly stated it was.

It's much stronger evidence than the 3 resumes for a callback study. To even come close to the same standard of evidence, you'd have to call up those employers, ask why they didn't call back black job applicants, and they would have to say something like....

"We deprioritize black job applicants in the hiring process"

.
except they aren't

Because when you are a minority in the USA, the accusation of racism against a white person is a very powerful tool. Ending racism would take away that power, and such people do not want to lose that power

except they aren't

Except they are.

More than half of hiring managers whose companies have DEI initiatives in place ‘somewhat’ (29%) or ‘strongly’ (24%) believe their company practices “reverse discrimination” when it comes to hiring.

Additionally, 48% say they have been told to prioritize diversity over qualifications when considering an applicant.

They also say they don't hiring people because they are not diverse enough.

No, your intent was painfully obvious.

I don't really parse my language on here so you don't need to look for any hidden meanings. If anything I wrote doesn't seem clear, ask and I'll say it again for you....as clearly as possible.

It actually does. Harvard spells out just how and when affirmative action is used.

Harvard says Harvard isn't unfairly discriminating...well I guess that case is closed then lol. We can just remove the huge advantage some people are getting.

2019....not very good at refuting a survey months old. You're going to want the most current data available.

A lot of claims. Very little data. Unfortunately, it starts under the assumption of systemic racism and then continues on as if it's true and doesn't need any evidence.

Still, there's some research linked....a more recent name study claiming that when sending out resumes, black sounding names get 10% less calls back....

Wow. So if Jamal and Greg send out 100 resumes each....Greg gets calls from 10, Jamal gets calls from 9. Who gets hired? Well...don't worry about that....we spoke with HR and about half the time they won't even bother with Greg unless Jamal already turned them down and there's no other minority groups on the callback list.

Let's get this straight....I have a blanket survey of people who hire employees for companies....

1 in 6 admitted to being told to discriminate against white men.

Half admitted to actually doing it.

And you think that thr bigger problem is that Jamal gets called for an interview an average of 9 times for every 10 times Greg gets called?

Who cares about calls for interviews when they openly admit they aren't hiring Greg?

https://nationalfund.org/racial-bias-in-hiring-practices-widens-the-black-white-wealth-disparity/

This is by far my favorite because it so elegantly breaks down all the racist reasoning behind this gross narrative.

They assume everyone is as racist as they are, so of course, the reason so many white men find employment is because the racist white men at the top of those businesses only want white men.

So the solution they want....racial discrimination against white men and hiring quotas...will work because once we force them to hire some women and black men....those women and black men will also be racists who discriminate in favor of women and black men. What a disgusting view of the world.

Anyway, they've successfully gotten companies to discriminate against white men (as my survey shows) and they have more black men and women in positions of power. Why isn't it working then? Why aren't they putting new black men and women on the fast track of success? Why do they hire white men?

The answer is pretty simple....if you got hired for being a woman or black man....then your job security depends on you being the only woman or black man at the company. You didn't get hired on merit or outcompeting anyone...you got hired to check a diversity box. If you hire or promote more black men and women, the company might realize they don't need you anymore. So they hire white men. Darn racism.

This is the tiny bit if data I already referenced above. The second link contains a link to this page.

https://www.marketplace.org/2021/08...ng-is-still-happening-at-the-earliest-stages/
Finally....guess what? If you know a white guy that you're friends with? He can get you a job. Unfortunately if you're one of the many openly racist people who shamelessly spout your racist beliefs about white men....that job referral probably isn't coming. Too bad so sad.

Do you think it's odd at all that I'm able to pull examples of people openly admitting to bias and discrimination against white men but you have to try to find reasons to assume it exists against anyone else?

Why do you think that is?

She's not spoken of any.

Do you think that people who don't endlessly go on about racism haven't experienced any? If she's an Asian woman in a western multiethnic, multiracial nation for any length of time....I'd guess she probably brushed up against some racism, whether big or small. I'm certain that she's aware of it in her own nation where the vast majority feel no need to hide it.

There's lots of possible reasons. If you're a racist...and you justify your racism by claiming some victim hood status....then you don't want to let that victim hood status go....or else you might be held accountable for your racism. That would be difficult too....if the society was increasingly less racist towards you. It would be difficult to justify that racism you'd hold towards society.

I don't think most black people had much experience with being accused of racism before the internet. I didn't really see it called out between black people nor had I ever had any compulsion to call it out to the black people I knew. I had done it a few times....so I knew the responses one gets....

Maybe these people see themselves as having an identity of righteous struggle against oppression. They look back at their personal history and see nothing but good and moral people fighting against oppression and evil. The very idea of existing without that oppression is terrifying....because it requires a whole change in identity, one that accepts responsibility, one that lacks excuses.

There's plenty of reasons...I don't really need to guess at them though.
Keep practicing, you'll get the hang of it
Oh I'm long since past the concerns of "my image" or "my good name" or lying to people to appease them in some way. If you want honesty, you have to accept hearing some things you won't like....but it's better than being lied to and told exactly what you want to hear all the time.
