I am far from a fundamentalist or conservative. By the same token I am not a liberal either. Other than a moderate Christian with some personal views, I can't really think of a "label" per se. Anyway, here is a sampling of my beliefs:

1. I believe in the Trinity. God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are one, but can manifest in those three forms.

2. Salvation comes from faith through Jesus Christ, and we will be judged off our deeds during the resurrections (Revelation).

3. I believe that the original autographs of the Bible are inerrant, but since we don't have them (lost or destroyed) inerrancy is not an issue worth debating. I agree that the autograph copies and translations (with a couple of exceptions such as the NWT) are infallible, in that they do not intentionally try to mislead you.

4. The Bible is not 100% literal. The authors also use metaphors, allegory, and etiology. It never claims to be a history or science textbook.

5. Modern translations are more accurate than older ones, such as the 1611 KJV. The KJV is a classic, but it is old and outdated. A lot has been discovered in the past 400 years, and archaeology can cause revisions. I'm fine with revisions.

6. I do not believe in Hell as we define it. The Bible never actually talks about Hell in the Classical Hebrew or Koine Greek as a place of eternal torment by fire. The lake of fire (Gehenna) after the resurrections and judgments, is a different story.

7. I do not believe in the fundamental/conservative Christian idea of Satan. I agree with Judaism in that Ha-SaTan is one of God's angels, and his title (not name) means "The Accuser." His job is to accuse those of sin, and bring them before God for judgment. He is merely following God's orders. English translations (and fictional works) have butchered the view of Satan beyond belief. There is only one God, so Satan can't possibly have power independent from God, otherwise he becomes a god himself.

8. I believe God gave humans free will. Since the dead will be raised and judged by their deeds (actions), according to Revelation, the idea that God controls every aspect of our lives does not make sense. Why would He judge our actions if they were under His control to begin with? Bad things happen because someone makes a choice to do something bad.

9. I am both a Futurist and Historicist when it comes to the End Times. Some historical events could be part of the prophecies in the Book of Revelation, but many of those events have yet to happen.

10. I separate traditional teachings from biblical teachings. Far too often people repeat what they were taught without actually knowing where it came from, or if it is even true or accurate, according to the Bible. I look at the verses of the Bible in context, and use the principles of hermeneutics to gain meaning from those verses.

"Then Satan stood against Israel and incited David to number Israel." (1 Chron 21.1)

He doesn't sound much like God's agent there.

That's a bit like saying "principles of philosophy". Whose philosophy? A theist's or an atheist's - a fundamentalist's or a liberal's?

That is a meaningless distinction. There is only one place or state which is ever in mind, and that is somewhere (or some state) you would very much prefer not to be.
