SGW, that’s using the BigWorld game engine and the Unreal rendering engine. Been hearing form circles that they are having problems getting Unreal to work with BigWorld, but if so I guess that is the nature of modifying an existing codebase to work with another. The word was it was very slow, but I’m sure they will get that ironed out over time if that is the case.

Btw I added a video in the MyCF page, it’s an early video I made last year for my mmo game project. I wasn’t going to post it here but wait until I have shaders going but oh well.

There is a new Christian mmorpg being formed right now, that will be available (if all goes as planned) in December 2007. It's called Foundations of Hope. Admin won't let me post a link, so google it I guess. Let's spread the word so it will succeed. It would be nice to have a mmorpg of our own.

Oh yeah, I know the project owner, well know him from the Internet, we have done some collaboration in the past regarding development of our games. Last I talked to him he was busy trying to get his book finished for release which put the game generally on hold for a time. Been waiting to see him pop his head up from his book, sometime soon I’m sure. Not looking like 2007, maybe 2008 is a better guess. I’ve posted info here on his game project before, you can find the site at http://www.foundationsofhope.com/ I don’t remember if it was going to be f2p or commercial, not sure if he even knows yet.

Another one to look at is at http://www.visionsgame.com/ it is getting closer to release, still some ways to go. It’s going to be f2p supported by donations.

You can check my MyCF page link here next to my signature, I have some tidbits of my game there. It is a commercial Christian mmorpg. This is the only public page on the Internet right now with any game info on it and it’s still mostly under wraps for a few more months but has been in development for over two years. Also some mention of my upcoming mmorpg game that I hope to have going this year (same engine but different game theme to test it all). That one is not exactly Christian, but it is based on a biblical world view.

Nothing live atm, if you want to play some Christian multiplayer game than check out Ark of the Covenant at http://aotcmud.org/ It is not a modern mmorpg, but it is a MUD which is the grandfather of mmo’s.

I know of another but it’s looking more like vaporware, the guy has been sidetracked for some time working on another project that isn’t a Christian themed game. If he ever picks up his Christian project again I’ll make mention of it.

I picked up Vanguard and am really enjoying it so far.
I heard that they were having problems... SOE at it again I guess. How is that server merge going? I'm tempted to try it out though, it is a shader based engine like mine (no pipeline like most game engines have), I bet it looks beautiful :)

To be honest, I have no idea, I played the free month and didn't renew it. I really enjoyed it but before the free month was over, my interest had waned. I reactivated WoW and played it for a couple of weeks but I think I've just lost interest in it as well.

I reactivated my Everquest account yesterday and had a blast playing it last night though the graphics hurt my eyes. :D

I play Guild Wars and I've recently started playing WoW on a private server. It's fun but I think Guild Wars has the edge because cooperating with other players is the whole point of online games and Guild Wars kind of forces it (not in a bad way).

WoW it's very easy to just run around by yourself.

Well yeah, GW wasn’t a real mmorpg, it was an instanced game (not a world) much like Diable or some such game as that. I find it very hard to RP (really RP) in an instanced game and many people/kids there are just there to pwn not RP. I mean lets face it, the majority of RPers are drawn to online worlds, especially us oldschool p&p gamers, not online multiplayer pvp games which is what GW basically is. Btw, like the avatar, B5 is one of the best sci-fi’s ever made :)

The focus isn't on PvP, however it is a big part of the game.

Either way I have alot more fun with Guild Wars than I do WoW. Of course maybe my WoW experience would be different if I payed to play it. :p

I think that's what makes me lose interest in it after a short time. One of the things I like about EQ is one of the things most folks gripe about and that's grinding. I always loved getting in a group somewhere and grinding because there was so much opportunity to chat and get to know people.

Well yeah, at first release it was all about PvE but after the expansion things changed a lot, now being far more focused on PvP. I do like PvP a lot, but I like big battles and I prefer that with games that are designed to be PvP only like wwii online or PlanetSide. UO did pvp and pve well, for a time at least, it changes a lot like a boat w/o a rudder.

Couldn't agree more, I have no problem with forced grouping. One of the things I noticed with EQ, played if for about 5 years, was when they started to make it more solo friendly there were far less groups to hook up with which made the game horribly boring. Not always boring, I mean if you had contacts you could wind up someplace at any given time for a group, but you couldn't just go to a favorite grind spot for your characters level and hop right into a pick-up group. As much as people complained about forced grouping, in the end switching to solo was what really damaged that game and caused subscribers to move on. I mean there always was an ability to solo with a few hybrid classes, but it wasn't as rewarding as group play, but now has become so, other than for raiding. Probably the next best thing I had found since then was CoH, that is a pretty nice group oriented game, it was when I played it at least, not sure if it has changed much after the CoV release.

Yup. One of the things that makes Guild Wars so fun is that it forces you to group. It's damn near impossible to go solo and henchmen are amatuer at best. Heroes are apparently better but it's still best to have other players.

And even in a big group, you can still get slaughtered easily if they don't know their places. I've been in groups where the healers actually attack enemies and get killed as a result.

I play WoW because it's such a rush getting 25 people together to kill Gruul for the first time like we did tonight, everyone there, watching his health go down ever so slowly, having the main tank die at 5% and having everyone panick and start yelling to DPS.
