Death of shipping CEO Angela Chao under ‘criminal investigation,’ Texas sheriff says

  • In a letter to the state’s attorney general, the sheriff said his office was “investigating this accident as a criminal matter until they have sufficient evidence to rule out criminal activity.”
“Although the preliminary investigation indicated this was an unfortunate accident, the Sheriff’s Office is still investigating this accident as a criminal matter until they have sufficient evidence to rule out criminal activity,” the letter said.

“This incident was not a typical accident,” the Blanco County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a letter to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Thursday.

Chao’s Tesla Model X SUV went over an embankment and into a pond when she put the car in reverse instead of drive during a three-point turn shortly before midnight on February 10, the Wall Street Journal reports.

In a letter to Paxton’s office obtained by the Austin American-Statesman, the Blanco County Public Information Office said it was limiting what it released to the media because, “although the preliminary investigation indicated that this was an unfortunate accident, the Sheriff’s Office is still investigating this accident as a criminal matter until they have sufficient evidence to rule out criminal activity.”

That's odd. I wonder if she hit her head dropping off the embankment and how deep the pond was at that point.

There was a story a while back where a guy drove his family over a cliff, a two hundred foot drop, but they survived. It was a Tesla of some sort.

Seems odd to me too... suspicious even, imho. But look at what happened afterward Mitch is stepping down from the leadership of the GOP Senate. Also he says he will serve out his term but will leave the Senate. Then he endorsed DJT.

A friend, Amber Keinan, told detectives Ms Chao had called her at 23:42 and said the car was in the water and she was trapped inside.

"Chao told Keinan the water was rising and she was going to die and said 'I love you,'" the report says. "Chao then said her good byes to Keinan."

The conversation lasted eight minutes.
Egads! Must not of had anything in the car to break a window. I know the water pressure would make the door almost impossible to force open.

It's probably a lot harder, too, when you're hammered.

But she was on the phone with them for 8 minutes? In 8 minutes nobody else could get from the guest house down to her? How big is this ranch?

Mm, in these cases, it's always safer if you were able to open the windows manually and not just electronically. Electronic wouldn't probably work in those conditions anymore and as long as you'd be able to open the window even a little bit, you'd be able to let water in and even the pressure. But seriously messed up situation.
