  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I thought it might be amusing to make a thread about times you were mistaken for someone or something you are not.

From my own experience I once attended a Christian music festival with my church's youth group. For whatever reason I had a crowd of people confront me asking me if I was someone famous. I told them no, but many people thought I was lying. Throughout the day I had a crowd that followed me around. Pretty strange. I had no idea who they thought I was, and sadly cannot remember the name now.

I'll never forget the time I went into WalMart and three people asked me for help with finding things. They thought I worked there because I was wearing blue that day.

Lol, I've had that happen before too.

One more scary, I was constantly asked if I was Jewish when I was a kid/teenager. A neo-Nazi thought I was one. He screamed "are you a JEW!?!?" and I was like no.. thankfully nothing happened and I was out in the open but I think he was ready to beat me to death, lol. Although as an adult everyone tends to assume I'm Italian. Even though I'm like 99% northern European. My looks are more Southern European.

People have never mistaken me for anybody, people say I would recognize him a mile off. Guess cause I am big and brawny.

The Backstreet Boys came to town for a concert one day and I went to the mall with my then girlfriend because she wanted to go shopping. A big group of girls all wearing Backstreet Boys t-shirts were convinced I was one of the band members (I have no idea which one). I denied it but they didn't believe me. They acted pretty weird too. One of them randomly hugged me.

My girlfriend thought it was funnier than anything but I couldn't wait to get out of there. I've never wanted to be famous. But if that experience is what fame is like, it's even worse than I imagined.

This other time, I went to a restaurant by myself and a woman there mistook me for her blind date. Unlike some people I could mention tho, she believed me when I said that wasn't me.

Someone at my high school (2 years younger I think) had the exact same first and last name as I. While I don't have the most outlandish name, it's not really common. He was not quite the model student I was, so occasionally my parents would get calls about me being truant. My favorite part was when other kids would come up to me and say so-and-so was going to beat my brother up after school. Since I am an only child, I would just shrug and laugh.
