Some churches won't put Missalettes (which allow people to follow along on Sundays) in the pews because people are supposed to listen to the Word being proclaimed (which is perhaps a throwback to the days when 99% of Catholics were illiterate.)
If your parish has Missalettes, you can find the Sunday Mass prayers and readings within it.
I have also seen churches put printed copies of priests' homilies in the back of the church, especially if the priest is from another country and has a heavy accent. People can pick them up on the way in and read along so that they can understand what is being taught.
