  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

First I am new here. Hi all.
Country Woman told me I had to come to this forum.
Us, country folks, must stick together.

Someone mentioned the other day they thought mini series started with our generation.
Is that true? Which ones did you watch?

I remember watching Roots as a child.
And in college I remember watching Winds of War (I think that was the title).
Recently I saw episodes of Thorn Birds which I remember was in my youth.
Today I watched Stephen King's Rose Red which was originally a mini series.

Myself I am not a big fan of the mini series format.
Let me sit and watch the whole thing like I did with Rose Red this afternoon into evening.

Well, first of all, welcome CB! And thanks for starting a new thread!

I think that Roots was the first miniseries. It was one of the longer ones. Nowadays they call things miniseries if they run any more than one night. So a 2 or 3 part movie gets called a miniseries.

I was thinking Roots was the first one too.
But was afraid my memory was not so good.

And I agree nowadays they do overuse the term miniseries.
True miniseries should last a week or two.

And thanks for the welcomes.
And mamabear we certainly do need to stick together.
