  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Something has gone a little wack lately. A little background first. I have this weird issue, where I turn on/off lights when i enter a room, walk down the street or driving by without touching them and completely unintentionally. I also tend to turn on TVs, especially at night when I'm dreaming and it's been different model TVs over the years and they have no timer. The first issue I've chalked up to simply some yet to be explained scientific matter involving the brain's electrical impulses. It doesn't bother me, but it creeps everyone else out. The TV is either the same issue (the activity of the brain while dreaming) or i am sleep-turning-the-tv-on haha. Though the remote is never near me or moved from where I left it.

Neither of these have never really bothered by me. Eventually most of it subsided until recently but with another symptom or side effect if you will. Recently I've had frantic and racing dreams, but they had some clear parts that I can't really remember when I wake up. The issue is that I believe they are affecting someone else who is sleeping. The first time it happened, I remember in the dream something about a woman in a room. She started panicking and eventually began to scream. Now this is where it gets weird, someone else in the house was screaming at the same time I was dreaming someone was screaming. That sounds silly, but I wasn't hearing someone else's scream entering earshot and thus affecting my dream. It was clear that in the dream there were things causing and leading up to the figure to scream. And at the same time someone in the house screamed. I would wake up not realizing there was also a real scream until told later.

I thought "wow what a weird coincidence". Only I was sleeping in the guest bedroom of my soon to be mother-in-law's house and dreaming again. That night the same thing happened, frantic racing dreams and in the end a woman in a room becoming terrified and screaming. My STB mother in law screamed at the exact same moment... different person, same happening, different house and it was the following day of the first incident, so two days in a row so far.

I fear something is happening and I'm somehow affecting other people's sleep. It sounds ridiculous but I have no other explanation. The latest incident when I woke, I thought I saw something above my head black and wavey, but I'm thinking that was just my eyes adjusting as it didn't strike any fear in me or seem tangible. Nevertheless this still bothers me, is it just an insane coincidence? I don't believe in esp or psychics or any of that stuff. But I'm wondering if something is going on, whether it be demonic in nature or some strange biological phenomenon.

I should mentioned, my STB mother in law is christian, my mother who was involved in the first incident is not.

I have had the same thing happen--waking or finding something dark in my bedroom. I always just bind it and loose it from my room commanding it never to come back. It always works for me.

Of course, I am not suggesting you should do that because we're not allowed to bind and loose. I'm not binding or loosing for you. I'm just telling you what I do.

You very likely have some kind of electrical system that is the same as AC. It would be my guess that you have this and can do these things. The Lord gives each of us gifts. Have you explored the idea that this could be a gift of yours?

I do not believe in telekinesis or such things, and i have no visible will or control of these things that are happening. But the electrical part of it never has bothered me, but now I fear I'm somehow becoming this walking nightmare generator as insane as that sounds. I'll be honest, if someone else posted this on the forum I wouldn't have even finished reading the post before writing it off as someone who needs counseling. It's also probably well established in the D&V forum that I am a hardcase skeptic and I see nothing wrong with that, I believe we are to test things scripturally and spiritually. But I cannot explain or control this.

These events seem to indicate that you have an ability to bear witness to occurrences beyond logic. Your apprehension seems to indicate that you feel responsible and possibly out of control of these events. Like you're doing, continue to witness the life that is happening around you as it is. Nothing more (i.e. fear, hasty explanation, apprehension), and nothing less (i.e. ignoring, blindness).

Do not worry about attaching an explanation to your own flesh, and always know that it is under the control of God. In the name of Jesus, I ask that God pours the light of his son and spirit through your earnest faith and good spirit, and that you bear witness to his great acts and blessings upon the earth.

Anything is possible, and the strangest things do happen. We really can influence reality as we believe, so we have to watch out what we believe when we have super vivid imaginations and a ton of perserverance (against like, chalking off stuff as "not really happening" and staying sane and grounded in reality at the same time... difference with insane people is they get lost in a dream world... instead of their dream world invading reality...REALLY...)

VERY hard to believe stuff, but sounds like you have that gift.

Focus on the positive. !!!!! In your life. Feed that.

Watch out for whatever else you might be feeding especially vengeance, grudges, etc.

Racing dreams, trying to win a race against her... and causing psychic emanations from will, like firestarter.

Pick this apart. You have already thought of electro-magnetism. List every possible cause that comes to mind.

  • Static, Electromagnetic charges
  • Faulty wiring -- old homes get bare wire, brittle or chewed by rodents
  • Ghosts-spirits-phantoms-demons
  • Coincidence
  • Mice/Flying squirrels bouncing and scurrying when they see you
  • Spies and robbers, homeless hiding in the attic
  • Practical jokers or experimental proceedings
  • God wanting you to see something.

The part about sensing the scream has two familiar options.
1. Often we dream about things as we hear them, and it would have been quiet enough at night for sound to carry -- you've probably thought about that.

2. We are spiritual beings. There are physics about our spiritual activity that have not been completely studied. God and other forces have many ways of communicating with us, and when they don't fit into the natural patterns, we are skeptical.

I have been in intense Charismatic services where I knew that someone across the room was about to stand up and prophesy. Sometimes I knew the gist of what they might say, and would pray that their word would be pure and truthful. Knowing was certainly not my own doing. God gives us information if we will do something responsible with it. And sure enough, that particular person would prophesy within 10-30 seconds. I did not control things -- I just listened to the input.

I have had similar experiences singing with a worship team that came up with songs as they sang. I usually sang harmony, and could often hear from the Holy Spirit a split second before the chords would change or the music would take a twist. That was an incredible time, and I'm sure there's more of that in Heaven.

In both of those situations there was a purpose -- to pray for the speaker and those listening; and to produce cohesive sound during worship, glorifying God and what He can do through us, ministering to others through words.

Since your phenomena are instilling fear in people, my first conclusion wouldn't be God. I would divide up all those incidents and unlink them. Electrical things in one category, dreams and screams in another. Some things are just coincidence. Others may be from intelligent forces that people have not admitted to being real.

Consider the possibility that it may not be you, but something tagging along with you that's trying to drive you berserk.

If that is the case, I'm a little annoyed at the influence it has and the scope of that influence. Lately I've been able to will myself out of the dream before it goes rampant, but I'm still affecting electronics or the situation or problem is still affecting electronics. I'm trying not to weird people out, It doesn't seem to happen as much when I'm conscious or *awake*. It's when I sleep that my mind essentially hyper-activates and I get dreams going mach 5 and stuff starts going haywire around me. My mind becomes a hurricane of thoughts and images, it's like it is completely out of control. Again, I do not believe in telekinesis or psychics.

But something is robbing me of my clarity when I sleep, or something has been loosed in my mind. For the first time in a while last night my mind calmed enough that I had a few interesting dreams.

In describing the gifts of the Holy Spirit, Paul tells us that the spirit of the prophets is subject to the prophets. This is a very important perspective to keep in mind. We don't come close to understanding everything that goes on in the spirit, and I want to be the last one to limit the Holy Spirit, but essentially we do not go out of control. We are willing, yielded partners with God, and He explicitly says we should use wisdom when employing the gifts of the Spirit.

Anything that is chronically out of control I would be very suspicious of. I don't see how this stuff glorifies the Lord. All the spiritual gifts, including the dreams and visions we occupy ourselves with here, are for the purpose of edifying the Body of Christ in truth and love. They are not their own end. If something doesn't conform to that healthy spiritual pattern, question it.

Guard your heart, for out of it come the issues of life.

From my personal experience, one of the ways the enemy tries to lead you into delusion is to make you believe you have powers over the physical or spiritual realm. He can manifest lying signs and wonders to fool you into believing that; that sort of thing is very easy for him. He can manipulate people and circumstances (and dreams) to make these things happen. What I can tell you is that it isn't the Holy Spirit who is turning off lights or causing people to scream. That is not from God, and God is not the author of confusion. There is a spirit of error working in your life and you need to find out what doors you have opened to it and lock them shut.

Have you ever been involved in the occult or new age belief systems? Is there anyone in your life that is involved in those things? Are you living a sanctified life?

I completely agree with your post 100%. Thats why I'm not calling this a gift, but either A) scientific phenomenon or B) Satanic influences trying to confuse me. Both are a problem for me however, for all I know this is my thorn in the flesh. And either way it is not from God, like you said, God doesn't cause His saints to scream like that or cause confusion.

As for the occult, I've never been involved with any such thing. I combat the occultic delusions (apologetics) and christians involved in it, among other anti biblical, false extra biblical teachings that carry people away. Which is why I do not believe this to be some gift, it's clearly not beneficial to anyone. My concern is this will be persistent and get worse over time.

Well, we know all truth is spiritually discerned, therefore the causation of this is ultimately spiritual. Therefore, I must conclude it is from the enemy. So, that means you can do something about it, since we have power over Satan and his kingdom through the authority of Jesus Christ. Since you understand about the occult, and about open doors, then you know how the enemy can receive permission from us to enter into our lives. One thing that can cause this is unforgiveness. According to scripture, if we refuse to forgive, the Father hands us over to demonic oppression. Another thing is soul ties. If you've ever had sex outside of marriage then you may have a soul tie that you need to break. It also could be a generational curse resulting from a family member being involved in the occult, or something of that nature. This could be a thorn in your flesh, but to me it sounds like the enemy is getting some access into your life.

I praise God that you engage in spiritual warfare and cast down imaginations and break down strongholds. We are to bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. I too engage in apologetics and am often venturing into enemy territory. I will be praying for your victory over this through Christ.
